Hi All

I work for an international company and they would like to narrow down our local IP (Dynamic) as much as possible for incoming traffic to the servers.

What is the closest IP I can give them granted I will only need access from the office and at home, both have Telkom as ISP.

Or should I rather look at fixed IP/Dyn DNS options?

Thanks

Considering that Telkom currently has about 900,000 ADSL subscribers on its network, and TelkomInternet has around 500,000 of those, I don't see how they can narrow it down to a meaningful subset.

You best invest in a static IP if you're hoping to have a stable and reliable connection. Usually you can only get these with business uncapped accounts, and you have to use a very specific router that is supported by the ISP.

Dynamic DNS services could work as well, but there is often a delay when your IP changes and gets propagated through the DNS system.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Looks like I will be exploring my static IP/VPN options.

If i understand you correctly, you need to give your IP address to them so you can access their servers. If you don't want a static IP address or want to save money, you could create some sort of script/program that sends their server your IP address every hour or so to update it.
