Hi, Can one of the mods please change this into a poll.

I would like to create a poll as to what you think is a fair amount of data before they start throttling us. Please bare in mind it does not help you say 600gb+ because we know this does not sit well with Telkom. Lets be fair and conservative, rather looking at it as a minimum you can live with. That Jaqcui lady said we can engage her and i know for a fact they monitor this forum. Lets meet each other half way.

Mods, i would suggest we use the following as options

150 - 200 GB
200 - 250 GB
250 - 300Gb
300 - 350 Gb
350 - 400 Gb
400 - 500 Gb
500gb +

500gb for me just to be on the save side. Mafia 3 is coming and that will be a hefty chunk of data to download from steam

I'm the one guy on <200GB. Highest I've done was maybe +/- 130GB. Usually <100GB.

If they had a cheaper package with 100GB, I would be happy to accept.

400GB at a bare minimum- but then my current LTE speeds are not the best (I still haven't managed to get a telkom techie to come and install my external antenna- even after numerous emails). I have a feeling though that once that antenna is installed (I can but only hope) and I get better speeds, I'd probably want a bit more.

I think 500GB is fine for full speed. Even though a couple of hours of Netflix every day will take at least a 400GB chomp out of it. So my suggest throttle down to 10Mbps after 500GB then throttle down to 5Mbps after 800GB then down to 2Mbsp after 1TB, but I would suggest to never ever have to go below 2Mbps throttling.

Why don't you just install one yourself? It's pretty simple to do.

400gb would make it stress free for me. I tend to average around 300gb, some months low 200's other months nearly 400gb. But given Telkom's reluctance to give more gigs i feel like 10 gigs a day throttled to 512kbps with 12 to 7am not counting would be easy an easy sell. That should take care of one to two netflix streams and large downloads like games or OS updates overnight when we sleep. Not being able to download the odd 40 gig game overnight is extremely restrictive. At the moment with 6.6gb(200 gig threshold) a day you know the moment you download a game it's going to cost you nearly a week's data. That is not internet freedom.

I'll go with over 500GB as they marketed as an unlimited streaming product. Data usage should be irrelevant.

I probably will, if it comes down to it. Problem is knowing where to point it. I could guess, but then I'm kinda lazy :p

With LTE as long you're pointing in the general direction of the tower you should be fine, and it's pretty easy to just move the antenna around a few degrees at a time and keep checking the signal to find the optimal direction. It's definitely not as specific as trying to direct a DSTV satellite dish.
