Is anyone else picking up the default DNS used by TM LTE is very slow resolving names? Download speeds, streaming, gaming are all fine. Browsing is just a pain when resolving pages.

When I switch to 8.8.8.8 it's faster, but still not as fast as it can be. Are there alternative DNS addresses I can use?

I am having the same problem as cliff. im in weltevredenpark area. ever since mid December 2014 ive had bad download speeds went from around 5mbs to under 0.5 mbs. i logged a call on 17 Feb 2015 (case number 16760669). got a call from telkom on 21 Feb saying they would send technician...im still waiting. My upload speeds are also faster then download speeds. Is this not a breech of the contract how can they say they are supplying you with the fastest internet and yet i can barely talk on skype or watch a you tube video without buffering. How does that suddenly happen overnight. Am i the only person experiencing this issue ?

Experienced the same thing over the weekend using Telkom Mobile wanted to apply updates to windows and no throughput whatsoever had to switch over to cell c for windows updated to take place.

Something is happening with their network currently and I do hope it gets resolved. Example some websites didn't load while others loaded perfectly on another network..

Either could be a routing issues.. Reminds me of vodacom

Same issue as CliffB & fxwealth1.

I signed with Telkom LTE in December after I received a demo at home. Had great download speeds of between 30 - 40 mbps until mid January. Since then download speeds of 0.3 mbps. x100 slower than usual. Logged a call (Case Nr. 16708493) end of January. Had a technician at my house in Fairland. He couldn't find anything wrong, but said that he would escalate the fault to another department. He figured the problem had to be at the tower? Problem still hasn't been resolved - wonder what would happen if I pay x100 less

Issue resolved!!! Download speeds not as great as it used to be, but I can live with 16 mbps. Apparently the problem was at the tower. The LTE service in the Fairland & Weltevredenpark up and running again

Flush DNS Resolver cache

Try flushing your DNS cache as well, from the command prompt:

  • [*]WinXP: Start, Run and then type “cmd” and press Enter.
[*]Vista and Window 7: Click Start and type the word “Command” in the Start search field. Finally right click the command prompt icon and select the option to “Run as Administrator”.

In the open prompt, type “ipconfig /flushdns” (without the quotes).

Refer to this page for more info and details on how to clear Chrome's internal DNS cache as well:

I have LTE Uncapped package from Telkom.

For the last 3 weeks, my internet speed has gone down from 12Mbps to 0.2Mbps! Often only reaching 12kbps download speed, atlough my upload speed is at 9Mbps.

I logged a complaint at Telkom on the 21st of August, with still NO reply (although I was promised a call within 72 hours). This is very very bad service

Yes, the last couple of weeks LTE has been useless.

Chrome reads "resolving host" and comes to a halt, so it really does seem like a DNS issue. This goes on for about 10mins then it goes back to normal for 10mins, and repeats.

I am on the R900 LTE package, in Tygerberg area.

According to that map, all major cities JHB, CT, PE, KZN, are down, and my area is in a light yellow haze. Not very helpful.

Thank you for the link, though. It is something at least.
