Telkom LTE FUP / AUP SMS

This afternoon I received the following SMS:

Dear Telkom LTE customer, our LTE uncapped services are governed by an Acceptable Use Policy (AUP). Telkom reserves the right to apply restrictions if a customer's behaviour is deemed to affect the experience of other LTE users on the network. Please note that Telkom will start to implement the AUP from September 2016. Your current usage puts you at risk to be impacted by the policy, which may lead to throttling. Go to http://telkom.site/AUP to view the AUP. T&Cs apply. Telkom Team.

I have confirmed that this SMS was sent to *all* LTE Unlimited subscribers.

FWIW, I did this by using the chat service (https://chat1.8ta.com/index.html) on Telkom's website and clicking for a callback when asked to do so by the agent. I was then transferred to another agent who informed me that my 50G FUP limit was untouched (which makes sense since I don't Torrent or NNTP).

While I was on the line, I asked how I could check my current usage to date for the month and was advised this should be available in Telkom's Self Service dashboard (www.telkom.co.za/eservices) but at the moment it is not pulling through - it is a known issue and being worked on...

So that's it. Still slows down to a crawl in the evenings - assuming loads of streaming video happening at that time.

Best way to check your usage is sending a blank sms or a sms containing any info to 188 from the router....

Make sure your router is forced to 4G Only otherwise you will lose connection.
