Rikus Matthyser, Telkom Media’s Chief Strategist – says that Telkom Media will partner with any company which can provide them with suitable network infrastructure to ensure high quality services to consumers. Matthyser said that this may involve new network infrastructure players like Vodacom, MTN, Neotel or InfraCo.
Use your own network dumbass. Don't stuff up somebody else's.

There will be a tiered bouquet structure, with a basic bouquet available for approximately R100/month

Basic bouquet will include nothing that you or i will want to watch.

I am sorry but I cannot get excited about IPTV when I am only still able to browse the Internet at 4Mb/s speeds. Internenational is more like 1MB/s. What we need in SA is rather affordable bandwidth for corporates and home users (entrepeneurs) to be able to expand their business. More work, less unemployment and more people to afford all this nonsense. Bigger uptake of these IPTV, Satelitte services will also surely help push prices down as the case is with ADSL as it expands.

“As a business we support and welcome competition. Accommodating additional forms of less expensive pay-TV, as well as IPTV and other platforms to disseminate information is vital for our young democracy. A market devoid of competition benefits a few at the expense of many,” says Ngcobo.

Much of this has been covered before, but people are still misinformed.

Points to remember:

IPTV will utilize, but run independently of your broadband connection.

It will run on ADSL2+ @ 8MB/s or greater.

It will utilize cheap and abundant local bandwidth only.

You will pay a monthly subscription. You will not have to pay any IPTV bandwidth costs.

Any chance of getting ADSL2+ for internet at super fast speed at resonable cost and uncapped this century?
