What's the best modem to choose from 8ta? I see there is a black & silver one that boasts 21mbps..?

Can someone from the Southern Suburbs in CT (Claremont / Rondebosch) perhaps do a speedtest to local server, CT and JHB. Can they also ping 196.38.180.26 -t and paste the reply for about 10 ping replies.

Is it possible to use a Vodafone K3805-Z usb modem with an 8ta sim card? I currently use a Vodacom sim card to connect to the internet but considering switching to 8ta, but I don't wish to change my usb modem.

Yes, of course. Duh! I'm now using an MTN 3.6Mbps modem (not sure which; it's a friends), and I use and have a k3565 + k3765 works as well with the 8ta sim card.

After quite a bit of tweaking, I managed to get my Tenda 3G 611 R+ router working with my (debranded**) ex-Vodafone Huawei K3765 usb dongle with an 8Ta simcard in it on the 8Ta 10Gb for R199 per month deal.

** I used the Debranding (Permanent) method from this website [warning: this does invalidate the Vodafone guarantee on your dongle]:
http://3g-modem.wetpaint.com/page/Huawei+K3765-HV+(Vodafone)#fbid=CNkpq1wK0Jo

[also first read this mybroadband thread: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/347886-8ta-and-K3765-modem ]
