Friends, lurkers, and esteemed guests,
The time has come that I bid adieu to Telkom Mobile. Since I know the horror stories of how Telkom will do all it can to shaft you but adamantly refuse to cancel their service to you, I am playing them by their own book and rules.
8 Days ago, June 21 to be precise, I sent them an email with "the form" and my ID to the correct email. (PLEASE NOTE: FIXED SERVICES and MOBILE have different mail addresses!!!).
Since I have heard nothing from them, I followed up with a call today. I was told they will get to it asap but may take up to 21 WORKING days. Thereafter someone from Retentions will contact me and try to promise me the world. I am supposed to tell them off and my package will be cancelled with effect as I stated on my forms/we discuss.
I asked for the notice period to commence on 1 July in the email to them so let's see how this plays out. I will keep you guys posted.
I guess I am sharing this to help future Cancellers for reference.
PS: I have read people saying do it in branch for XYZ reasons. Only do in store IF you will get the evidence that it is submitted. I opted for email because if we should have to go sit before the National Consumer Commission again (which I have with Telkom) - I prefer bringing the proof.
