Telkom Mobile here to impress SIM-Sonke

Got myself a Telkom Mobile sim sonke simcard.....

Loaded R50 airtime and yeah it works well. All advertised benifits works well.

TM to TM and 8ta more numbers pay only 23c per minute.

Th free calls are only from sim soke to sim sonke.... No data bundle purchases allowed, the option is not even there...

You are able to migra to 8ta more tarrif plan if you want. Doubt you will be able to change back though.

Looks like they are running another promotion on top of it all too.... I recieved these 2 sms today

"Welcome to the Telkom Mobile SIM-SONKE community! Here, sharing is saving! For only 29c a minute, u can make calls to other Telkom Mobile friends, and 75c to all other SA networks! That's the lowest call rate in Mzansi! More info to follow."

Then a few minutes later I got this

"Stay with the SIM-SONKE community! Keep using ur number for another 7 days and u will get 50% back of all recharges made since the day u joined. That's a lot of FREE airtime! Remember to ask for 8ta airtime when you recharge."

So on top if the cheap rate you will get 50% back on all your recharges 7 days after you joined Telkom Mobile.... Not sure how long the promo will last..... Pretty decent

Got my free airtime but going to get another reward too just for using Telkom Mobile Sim-Sonke

The sms reads...

"Keep using ur SIM-SONKE service until 31/07/2013 and get 1 free minute for every rand you've recharged with since 25/07/2013"


I can safely say that with ALL these extra rewards the effective rate I paid to other networks is WAY less than 75c..... Wow you get tons of free airtime and minutes and you get the lowest call rate.... Pretty impressive

You get 50% airtime back on the 7th day from the date of the first recharge..... So all the recharges since the first recharge will add up to give you a 50% airtime on all on the 7th day....

Then for the next seven days all your recharges gives you 1min for every rand recharged... You will get your minutes on the 7th day.....

This may change but its how it worked for me. I think it might be a once off thing for joining sim sonke.

The free airtime I got had 3 weeks before it expired...... The airtime can be used for data and voice to any network any time at the standard rate of 75c per minute to other networks and 29c to telkom mobile....

The free evening calls are to any SIM-Sonke number..... This will exclude people on the 8ta more prepaid plan or data sims.... You will be charged 29c p/min to those numbers.

Thanks cavedog, 3 weeks is much more resonable than Supacharge, but when I bought my 8ta starter pack, I received during the first month 50% bonus airtime which doesn't expire. Friend of mine never needs to recharge, as for any 3 minutes of incoming call he receives 1 minute of airtime, which doesn't expire.

Cavedog when you Rica'd your details for Telkom Mobile, is this your first time becoming a subscriber to Telkom Mobile family/8ta in this regard.

I am very impressed so far with Telkom Mobile SIM-sonke(reason being the first service provider to dispatch micro-sim cards to retailers) this is a brandplus saved me time going directly to 8ta/Telkom Direct store trying to get my hands on a micro-sim card.

I haven't RICA my details as yet with them but will do in due time, so excited will save extra bucks using Telkom Mobile and highly doubt it's a promotion, it's just a way to spend money on marketing to encourage people to switch over.

SIM-SONKE only works on the Telkom Mobile Network.

You will not be able to roam on any other South African Network.

If you are out of coverage, then the service will not work.

SIMSonke sims stop working if outside coverage areas...
