The new offer includes a spare battery if not mistaken. Prices have gone up a lot recently but as you stated they have to mention it clearly in their advertising promotion material. I have also noticed on their deal sheet it isnt specified which model you will receiving but upon doing investigation on their website it clearly says 8gb but still misleading

Ours included the free battery too. The picture up top is the misleading bit - that and the fact that when you ask the agent in the store, they tell you you're getting that model.

You need to mention the CPA to them.

Ask to lay a complaint with the store manager or owner.

Approach the ombudsman or ICASA

and

Most importantly keep your pic and maybe a video as proof. This is a national problem. Every telkom store will have the same issue.

You have to report it to the Advertising Standards of South Africa!

Dont settle with what you were given and make a noise. We unfortunately have to make a noise to receive satisfactory service. They misled you and dont allow them to do it to somebody else.

Edit : try to get a copy of the store brochure, make sure the booklet doesnt have a mention of the memory, scan and send with your ASA complaint. This will prove that they continue to mislead customers.

Do you think Apple put a 16GB, 32GB, 64GB and 128GB of every model on display?

No they put the relevant model they have in stock on display. You are demo'ing the device not it's storage, which is exactly why they don't list the size.

The paperwork you signed would have had the model details on. Sorry to say it but you failed to do your research and/or pay attention.

Telkom has nothing to do with it.

Nickname seems highly appropriate.

What does the contract and invoice state?

From reading this thread. it appears that the 16gb version comes with 2gb ram instead of the 1gb RAM in the 8gb model.

If you demo a phone with 2gb RAM and I use it and love how smooth it runs, I would be pissed if you then give me a 1gb version without explicitly pointing it out

Quite frankly I've never bought a phone based on a store demo but doing online research instead.

Regardless if the paperwork says 8gb and you still signed it, well...

If the paperwork says nothing at all it's a little different.

The paperwork? Do you have a contract that shows your phone spec?
And where iPhones is concerned, all providers are careful to point out the storage diffs in their models on the ads... Not so with other brands it seems. Imagine purchasing a PC with i7 CPU only to find you didn't get the i7 but a celeron when you unpack it. The printed ad omitted the CPU spec but the demo model in the store representing the deal was an i7.

Yup I have a contract AND an invoice that indicates exactly my phone spec.

Have had one ever since I got my first cellphone many many years ago.

The device is part and parcel of the contract offering and should therefore be specified in full.

Telkom are pretty slack in that department then. It just says LG G4 hand written - not even 'G4 Stylus' lol.

That's a pretty poor show. If those LG models have different specs they should make it clear which one they're offering, I agree.

You can reasonably argue that the 16GB model you saw induced you into the contract and was a primary term, and that they should supply that model. If they can't, it's possible to make the case that there was in fact no meeting of minds, ie no contract.

Speak to your lawyer.
