Hi CreepyCrawley

Carte Blanche had long interviews with Mad and myself and we hope they screen all the good bits. I am quite certain that they will be objective and even somewhat sympathetic towards our cause :)

Maybe something on the news page letting everyone know about this interview is a good idea?

*Smiles and nods* yeah, their response was that the story wasn't big enough, capped ADSL and stuff was just not interesting.

I guess it's now that the rest of the media has kinda trumped them on this one with regards to the overpricing and the way that it's become even more obvious how Telkom is screwing us, that they finally want to report on it.

I'm not complaining though, Carte Blanche is good at getting people informed, I can't wait to see what they put in.

Especially to the Presenters, they who in turn have their own Telkom and Cell phone Accounts. They can clearly see that we are being ripped off.
The other thing that they will probably look into is the recent announcements from Telkom of their 187% increase in earnings and in the same sentence speak of retrenching more people. It's possible that this might have got Telkom into the spotlight. I doubt that Carte Blanche will just focus on ADSL. Most people don’t even know what ADSL stands for or even what it does. But as a Telkom product that is overcharged/overpriced, it will form part of the interesting talk and also how Telkom can explain to SA, how they who a year before were a state owned organisation with no real entrepreneurial ambition, can earn so much money in just one year after listing.
It also points to the government who have obviously been enjoying, this Cash Cow for a long time. And I hope the spotlight is directed that way as well as they do still own 38% of Telkom and should form part of the focus. Also I hope they focus on the fact that SBC has taken its billions out of the country and plan to do the same later this year on the 22 of November when it can sell its remaining 15.1% of Telkom. One can focus on the issue here that SBC should never have been included into the Telkom issue as I ask why SA needed a strategic equity partner anyway with managerial control. SA could easily have done its own listing and managed Telkom. It had been doing so for decades and at the same time employing a vast number of people too.

Hm, it was good overall, I felt they were pretty light with Telkom, didn't want to push too hard, but you guys portrayed yourself well... hopefully this will cause some things to change (or at least start the ball rolling).

Great show, just finished watching.

The sad thing I think is that as long as the government has a share in Telkom, there will be absolutely no urgency to change, as they (Gov), are abviousely benefiting from the bloated profits.
The most interesting point made imho in the program for me was when the one guy stated that there is no way Telkom would make those types of profits in a competitive market.

Any links to his newsgroup perhaps.

Mobilise the masses, get the word out, support Hellkom and Myadsl.
This gravy train has got to stop.

Nice of the CEO ( Sizwe Nxasana ) to make a duck as well.

Sizwe, you are a chicken ****.

Excellent, one couldn't have hoped for better exposure. Well done to all concerned. The points were well put across by you guys, backed up by the experts.
The monoply's representatives, on the other hand, were not at all convincing. "We deny this" and " we deny that" just doesn't cut it when the facts were thrown at them, and they looked nervous.

Here's a link to a transcipt (when they put it on) for those who missed it.

Hark, I hear another Markinor Survey in the offering. It was the tactic used against MyADSL.

Awesome stuff guys! Would have liked them to mention that all international bandwidth is controlled by Telkom... But hey, it was great none the less.

Much respect to all involved.

Well done all of you. Great interviews all - came across very credible indeed. Good job to Carte Blanche as well. They did an excellent editing job for a 15min insert.
