My mom needs a new phone, and i know nothing about telkom mobile and its contracts/service/reputation.

So hows the coverage? She needs to port from MTN and she lives in the platteland basically(Hermanus)

Any additional costs that can add up on the contract?

I was thinking p9 lite, they seem to go for r199-r230pm, so the p10 lite is a better option for r269 with 1gb data.

Very happy with TM. just add R30 and she can phone one telkom number for free. Also, she can phone other TM numbers for free. [[[[phone 30 minutes, cut call, phone again]]]]

Just worried about coverage for her as it's not a "main center".

Add R30?? I understand it's already 1000 minutes PM to telkom landline and mobile numbers included.

If you need to stick to a budget then Telkom contract is not right for her as you will be charged extra for making calls to other networks.

If she's happy with MTN then look at the ZTE Axon 7 Mini and Nokia 6.

Telkom also doesn't have a wide variety of phones

She only phones from her telkom landline, hence why i was thinking the telkom mobile contract with the 1000 minutes is a good option.

The p10 lite is perfect i would even say p9 lite but telkom doesn't have it listed.

OK, telkom has the P9 lite available as well, you could also try the P8 lite 2017 edition
, it's much cheaper but not as premium as the P9 lite and P10 lite.

On my contract, I need to pay R30 extra.
I thought the R30 (it was offered to me, but I didn't take it) was to other networks, since when I signed up for the old P8lite it was 3000 minutes to Telkom landline and mobile included with FreeMe @R139.

Perhaps it's different options for R30 each.

Edit: last year, not 2017.
