Consumers will be charged for any local bandwidth usage after the service has been capped.

Nice. Uncapped local, but you still pay for it.

WTF is wrong with this company?

I hate them. I really hate them so much.

Slimey weasles...

So they are trying to get out of this one by saying 'here you go, unlimited local internet bandwidth - oh but sorry you've only got 2Gb download over our network - which is not the internet by the way. This is not what the regulations mean and they damn well know it. No local bandwidth capping.

Grrrr

what the **** is wrong with this ****ing company? how long have we been stuck at ****ing 3GBs anyway? surely a simple reference to Moore's LAW indicates that this aspect should be doubling every 24 months? or are we exempt even to something that dictates/indicates technological progression in every other country in the world????!?

how the **** can they be planning on launching ADSL2 for that IPTV fiasco when they cannot even manage to up a paltry limitation like this?

pardon the french but these ****ing selfish, short-sighted, ignorant clowns make my blood boil.

This article can be greatly simplified by declaring that they are simply creating a product where local and international usage are charged separately.

That in my mind is a core requirement for the "local bandwidth shall not count towards the cap" rule.

Overcomplication = Teklommanipulation.

Look at this stage of the fight I'd be happy with me buying a portion of Int cap and buying a separate portion of Local cap IF the ISP/Telkom would route Int/local through the correct accounts. I.e. You purchase a 3 Gig Int with 30Gig Local account which is packaged as one BUT you don't have to wait till the 3Gig Int is up to use the local!

Thus I wouldn't have to pull all these dirty tricks on my machines and routers to do the same thing!

BUT I still don't think this is right! But knowing I***sa they will balls this hearing up as well and make some STUPID ruling which is a VAGUE as a womans words of "Nevermind" while having an argument.

There was a thread on this when the first regulations came out and people said this was going to happen and it's no surprise. I blame ICASA and their vague Telkom modified regulations. Telkom are just abusing loop holes in stupid regulations set by ICASA.

Hopefully Neotel might fix it and offer us proper deals with uncapped local but I would say it would be far in the future if they plan to do it. Telkom on the other hand can afford to give us uncapped local as their infrastructure is already set up and they pay nothing for the bandwidth. It's virtually pure profit for them.

Anyone here know where I can get my hands on some builders foam?

I'm thinking of doing this to their exchanges:
http://www.thenewspaper.com/news/11/1140.asp

I can see it now:
Techie gets to an exchange that stopped working. The exchage has a piece of paper stuck to it that states "Free local internet for all" and when he opens the exchange box it is one solid brick of foam

Exactly! I don't mind paying for local, but I want local and international separated, and each charged for separately. If I use local mostly, and international only on Sundays, I don't want to find on the 3rd Sunday that I can't use my international because all my local usage counted towards my international cap! (Arb example, but you get my point). That was the way I interpreted the regulations, anyway.

Im confused with that article.

"Consumers will be charged for any local bandwidth usage after the service has been capped."

so you can buy a 1gig saix account and not use the international, and still have unrestricted local?

but then if you use the 1gig international you will be charged for all local bandwidth used??

Have i got this right?
