line rental should still be under R100 for adsl, until then its not competitive enough.

Fat chance - "She says the increase in rental and installation charges should be seen against the backdrop of losses incurred to provide these services." - Line rental is going UP, not down.

"The price for HomeDSL 384, Telkom's middle-level broadband, will decrease from R449 to R359 a month. HomeDSL 512 and BusinessDSL 512 super-fast ADSL broadband offerings will be reduced to R477 a month."
super-fast? 512? LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*slaps w1z4rd* Sorry.. I swear I heard you say line rental for ADSL should be under R100?? Must've been a typo. Surely you meant to type - THERE SHOULDN'T BE ADSL LINE RENTAL!?!?!? Right???

I agree with Dovi - maybe a once of installation charge but no line rental.

I agree about the line rental... the only reason one should need to pay for line rental is if local calls are free!

I agree. Not enough at all. It is a move in the right direction though... Good on you Telkom. Now go the distance and DROP line rental completely!

Or are you (Telkom) guys just sucking up to ICASA whilst retaining your totally overweight cash cow????

Guys, the magic wand that will save this country from 3rd worldness is not coming any time soon. Can't we at least be happy about this, and continue the fight so that it happens again?

still not enough price reduction from telkom...
on certain items like voice line rental, adsl ISP subscription, they should remove it completely from the bill.

I'll hazard a guess that he was joking ;)

And I'll second Web Africa. They've given me nothing but great service at good prices.

My logic might be flawed, but I'd say stick with Telkom ISP until the final decision is brought out about the new pricing structure.

Or of course grab one of the 30 gig accounts from the ISP's that offer them and use it while you can for that price
