Hi Forum Members !

So ADSL isn't a possibility where my singular parent stays.
Looking at the avail internet options are quite bleak.

I came across the following on Telkom's Website

SmartBroadband Wireless ( SIM Only )SIM only plans are available on a month to month contract.
The package includes Anytime data and the out of bundle rate for data is charged at R0.29 per MB. The inclusive anytime data can be used to access data only on Telkom 2300MHz LTE network.

I've checked the coverage map but alas,no LTE in the area.
In the FAQ though it states the following points

1.The Telkom Mobile Night Surfer Bundle can only be used to access data on Telkom 2300MHz LTE network between 12am and 7am.

2.Which radio frequency
spectrum band does Telkom’s LTE support?
Telkom’s LTE network is
a TD
-
LTE frequency that is
supported on the 2300MHz radio frequency spectrum band

BUT it goes on to state the following point -

Does the SmartBroadband Wireless service support failover to 3G?
Yes 3G failover will be supported to Telkom’s 3G network only

Am I being optimistic here thinking that if I take one of these month to month plans and get say 30GB,it will run on 3G as well or did i understand this incorrectly?

According to the coverage map,my household supports it so that inst a prob.

Its quite unclear to me at this stage, does anyone have an idea if this would work? i would like (the opposite of load shedding here)

Thank you all

Yes but only on Telkom 3G network, Normal telkom mobile data runs on mtn and telkom network.
1st check if you have telkom 3g in your area.

http://www.telkom.co.za/coverage/

Yup, TM 3G coverage is there.
So essentially I can get a regular 3G modem, get one of these sims and pop it in there so it operates on TM?
Or would it be better to buy an LTE device say from Edgar's and pop the sim in there instead

I'm in the same boat here. I'm just shy of proper lte coverage in my are, but have Telkom 3g.
Can anyone clarify if they are successfully using this package in a not lte area ?
Also, which router/modem are you using ? Do I specifically need a router/modem that supports the 2300 range to be able to use the Mobile night surfer data ?

Thanks in advance.
