ping smtp.dsl.telkomsa.net

Pinging smtp.saix.net [196.25.240.94] with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 196.25.240.94: bytes=32 time=20ms TTL=251

Query bl.spamcop.net - 196.25.240.94
196.25.240.94 is smtp.saix.net

(Help) (Trace IP) (Senderbase lookup)

196.25.240.94 not listed in bl.spamcop.net

SpamCop has no record of this system

Andre could that be because u used the wrong ip address or kaspaas is using another server that he thinks is the one. [:p]

The adress kaspaas has is 196.25.240.74
the one you had was 196.25.240.94

So you guys are not talking about the same host.[:)]

The route email takes at Telkomsa seems to be the following:

There are a number of SMTP servers "collecting" mail from dial-up, ISDN and ADSL clients. smtp.dsl.telkomsa.net is such a server.

These servers then distribute the mail to other servers for delivery. The blocked one is such a server.

Because of this, it is a random process if mail gets blocked or not. If smtp.dsl.telkomsa.net hands your mail to a blocked server - tough. Otherwise, no problem.

I checked the smtp.dsl.saix.net one because that is the one we use to relay mail to. It's the one that Telkom recommends that you use as well.

If that one hands off to another Telkoms server that is blocked, that would indeed be a problem.[?]

I understood smtp.dsl.telkomsa.net and smtp.saix.net are one and the same IP. So no matter which one you use? Shows up the same on Visual Route.

Anybody have problems with Telkom DNS servers? Working then not working - last 3 weeks? Having terrible problems at 2 sites but mine seems ok. Maybe not used as much and mainly after hours.

Which ones you using? Telkom gave me 196.43.1.13 and 196.43.3.206 but I see clients are using a different set.

We've been using 196.43.1.11 and 196.43.1.13. Thanks for the 196.43.3.206 one, it gives lower latency. Telkom's DNS IP's seem to change every now and then. Support will give you different answers depending on who you speak to.

For the last week, I cannot use Mozilla Thunderbird to send mail. Im now back with Outlook Express which works fine. The settings that I have checked all seem exactly the same.
Thunderbird cant log onto the outgoing mail server and gives this message...An error occured while sending mail. The mail server responded: Error: 550 Open Relay Ref:110. please check the message and try again.
It always used to work fine, so Im confused.
