Not to derail this thread topic but is Telkom saying that from November I will not need to have two accounts with my ISP: namely my R70 shaped account and my R125 unshaped account? Are they saying that my R70 account will now have the same pings as my R125 account (used for gaming)? or are they doing away with the shaped R70 account and I can only buy the unshaped account at R125.

Well. I applied about over 2 months ago for ADSL. As yet Telkom have not contacted me in any form of communication. They've not even sent an e-mail that my fax was received. I'm worried if I fax it again they'll try to install 2 lines or something daft like that.

Maybe we should all start paying our Telkom bills by Novemeber .

AFAIK they cannot legally disconnect you for short payment only non payment. What they do on the other hand is a different story.

I have very little doubt that Telkom will have done nothing by the end of November - the only way this will ever be sorted out is to get them in the constitutional court

I'd agree with taking them to court but I'm not sure how this is a constitutional issue?

Is it too soon to say that Poison Ivy is the Stalin of SA's telecoms sector...?

To start with, I would like to see the issue of !CASA's lack of independence taken to the Constitutional Court, and have the Ivy-controls-all aspects of the ICASA Amendment Act declared unconstitutional, after that Telkodemonopolies should be forced to comply with its licence conditions under the original Telecommunications Act of 1996 - the same act that further entrenched Telkodemonopolies' existing monopoly status prior to its quasi-privatisation in 2002.

It is our constitutional right to have cheap broadband access and uncapped local bandwidth:D (I wish;) )

ICASA have ruled that local cannot count towards the cap - Telkom have admitted that they cannot (or will not) count local - the Constitution grants us freedom of association and freedom of expression - which Telkom are in violation of by virtue of not being able to comply with regulations
