Telkom has so far threatened to pull the plug on ADSL if they are not allowed to charge for ADSL line rental. but. they have not commented at all on any of the other issues such as port shaping, higher or no caps, local bandwidth capping etc., all issues which ICASA made findings on and intends to regulate on.

Does this mean that Telkom accepts the rest of the findings and recommendations?

they're acting like a scalded dog under retaliation. every one of those points that icasa made are valid, and telkom dont know where to start with their cover-ups. they're panicking, causing a big stir in the media, and in the end kicking themselves in the arse. all their threats are in vain, it will eventually lead to their downfall.

Just a thought, but Telkom could pretty much cripple half the businesses in the country if they pulled the plug on ADSL couldn't they? I mean most proper business are by now using an ADSL line, or at least most larger companies. If they're dependant on internet facilities, pardon my german - but they're ****3d!!! It'll just be the few on diginet etc. lines that'll be okay

in which case the law will come into effect and the competition commision will have a lot to say about it. which is why i say they're just bluffing. in other countries, people get sentenced to death for treason. if telkom were to pull the plug on adsl, it would in effect be the economical equivalent

Why not sending White to Zimbabwe. There he can destroy the economy. Mugabe has done most of it already and White could do the rest. Stop.... Mugabe would not like his name very much...:D

Who does telkom think they are dealing with anyway ? Some red-neck moonshine making hill-billies ? It must really annoy them everytime the make a statement and then they end up looking more useless than if they had said nothing at all . :p The days of us sucking it down are over , we have had our saying and each time they complain the just add wegiht to our arguement.

Had they just said yes to the icasa findings it would have been enough of a victory , now however they are threatening the economy of SA , terrorism , by any other name , and each time they do we get someone else who takes up the cause , thanks to the IFP this has become more of an issue , and melk-hom looks even more stupid if that is at all possible . By all means melk-hom , and yes we know you guys read these forums , we eagerly await your next circus trick , will it be steve is a clown suite ? With another well thought out threat ? Lets hope so , cos if all else fails , he could go write scripts for egoli , cos he has such a great ammount of imagination .

GG k thx bye :D

Its kinda sad that S.ans only have telkom as the only phone line company.
Whereas in the US ans UK you have BTelecoms, ontel, novatel, and t-mobile.
Telkom has the monopoly and recent polls indicate telkom makes the most profit in the world according to reuters.
Even more than Microsoft and Intel:eek:

I dont know about you but I have a 2 year contract with telkom, and if they decide to pull the plug on ADSL they will have to pay me 1 year's adsl line rental (just like I have to if I decide to stop my ADSL).

They would never let their apparent R1 billion investment go to waste.

Funny that one hears nothing from the dept of communications??

I know what you mean, WHen we first applied for ADSL from telkom, they said they had a 20:1 ratio, fair enough, using a 512 connection, but i was only getting like 12kbs and there wasnt no users online at that time,
I had a one year contract but was very appauled at the state of service, not to mention the upload speed of 0.9kbs.
Eventually i decided to pull the plug but they threatened me to stay. I told them id pay for the rest of the months, but the threatened me with a lawsuit, so i was stuck with the wankers for 6more months.
Eventually i then switched to axxess then everything was go.
I wanted iBurst so badly, but the radio was like 5kms away, so there was no chance:(
