Telkom Tower in your backyard

I stayed in De Deur about 8 km from Meyerton for a while but despite a Telkom signal that is much stronger than MTN I get such crappy service that it was almost impossible to work online (I worked 10+ years online for myself) so I had to roam on MTN with my Telkom mobile account.

Moved start of this month to Randfontein where there is a TELKOM tower right in the backyard. (no LTE access in this area)

Despite that and an almost 100% Telkom signal I experience the same ****ty and grappy Telkom connection and once again are forced to roam on MTN to be able to work (with very good speeds).

Anyone have any idea why?

What device are you using? Could it be something up with the device?

Have you tried a different device and experienced the exact same issue?

it is possible that you are literally under the signal.

The top of the tower is high in order to distribute the signal as far as possible.

if you climb on you roof(DON'T), with a laptop, the signal is bound to be better.

You might find adding an external arial could help.
