Speeds down from constant 45Mbps to below 6Mbps.

Pretty much the same for me, also my signal has dropped to 4 bars, from a constant 5.
Johannesburg south.

and now for something completely different...but not really...

So after the resolution of my random disconnect issue...which fixed itself apparently, because Telkom didn't do anything...

My speeds have now dropped from 10-20Mbps in peak time (after 5pm) down to 1-2Mbps. I am beyond frustrated because nothing I do seems to improve the speed. I doubt it's a contention issue because it started happening very suddenly a couple of days ago...I'm quite sure a large number of subscribers didn't just suddenly jump onto Telkom LTE at the same time.

I'm also down during the day, from 30Mbps+ (as high as 70Mbps on the odd occasion) down to about 15Mbps.

Any suggestions that don't involve changing to ADSL or Fibre because those aren't an option at the moment.

My speeds have halved since what ever the hell they've done, and ping increased by half.

Same for me. Came right today but for the past month it's been terrible. Well, 15mbps on average but that's terrible when I was used to between 50-80. Today I'm back to 50 odd. Pings normal as well. Not sure what to make of it.

I'm going on almost 3 years now and this was never the case for me until July 2018. Was perfect the first day or 2 and then just went to hell after that. Lets see what happens after the weekend.

Still okay for me but lower as expected on the start of a new month. Just waiting for the capped users to get capped.

Thanks. Does it do actual LTE-A as well there?

Not at my place, Cavedog knows a lot more than me.

So basically if you are using the B618s-65d which is the Telkom variant then it would only work on Rain B3 aka 1800MHz. Rain also run LTE on B38/41 so you will miss out on that band with the B618 from Telkom.

That said even if you get the Rain B618 it still unfortunately won't aggregate the 2 Rain bands so not 4G+ on Rain. You can however force band 38/41 with the Rain B618 so that could also be a plus.

The B618s-65d also supports 4x4 mimo so it would support 4x4 mimo on Rain Band 3 should you wish to use a Rain simcard in the device. :)

Not sure what happened but for 10min or so latency doubled to EU. Back to normal now :erm:
