Looks like I need to get a gigabit one. They are retailing for like R1500+ though.

Amazon has one for about R1500 and drop it with Aramex Global Shopper.
Another option would be to use the mwan3 script on open-wrt, especially if you have a compatible unused device lying around. This would also require one less device in the chain as you could run open-wrt on the Wi-Fi router

Same here, only worse.

We measured 0.11 download yesterday but the problems have been going on all weekend.

Randburg/Fourways area.

I've DM'd the Telkom Twitter account but have had no reply as yet.

Found out that, for the first time in 3 years, Telkom have throttled us down to 128 Kbps as we have exceeded some limit in the "unlimited" package.

Well that's settled it - Telkom are losing another customer in the next 2 months.

Please let me know if you'd like to cancel this contract. I'd be willing to take it over from you if you're on the R529 deal

If you are on the smartbroad wireless uncapped that was sold at R599, R699 or R799 price range I can assure you they do not throttle to 128k. That I know for a fact and been using this contract since launch for like 2 and a half years now.

Been on the R799 one for 3 years and this is the first time.
Support agent told me we were throttled and 2 independent speed tests I and my partner conducted confirmed speed of around 0.1 Mbps.

I've been seeing some pretty slow speeds for the last few evenings. But speedtest.net will run at full speed but mybroadband is about a 10th of what it normally is. I can't figure out if it is tower congestion or somewhere else on the telkom network as netflix streams no problem but fast.com with traceroute to bangalore india is super slow.

So this is interesting - there seems to be different routing applied during peak and off peak with Telkom. fast.com now traceroutes to Europe - in the evening to an edge server in India.

Did you go over 300GB for the month? Or 50GB P2P?

I can't retrieve my usage from the Telkom app - it keeps telling me they've got a problem.
I really doubt we'd ever use over 300GB in a month, just 2 people with normal browsing habits and some Showmax streaming.
What does 50GB P2P (peer to peer?) mean, please?

Log into your router send an sms. Send "bal" to 188 (without the ""). You will instantly get sms's back with your balances

Also experienced this last night.. i could watch youtube, download from my seedbox and do speed test with no issues... accessing sites like google or mybb took ages to load.. maybe a dns issue..

didnt investigate further but this morning internet is fine
