That's where I got mine. My 2 year contract ended and I decided that I would upgrade the home network. It was 2.5k but totally worth it! Literally x4 everything very very happy!
Yes. I have 2 B618s and love them to bits. I've also cancelled my ADSL.

I pay R625 still the old old old uncapped LTE package. Never ever been "capped/throttled" and I know we DL 350gb+ a month. Show me a deal that even comes close to this speed !

Nothing comes close to this speed/deal/bang for your buck.

Rain comes in 2nd with their off-peak uncapped.

I also want to add that LTE is not affected by environmental factors like sunlight, rain, heat, etc. unlike ADSL.

We're you late on the tower? First groups like me are on R525 (not R529 after VAT increase).

I know they did something like:
first 50 = R599;
Next 50 = R699;
Next 50 = R799.

Yes very quick uptake in the area. Signed on in week two

I'm Pierre van Ryneveld side will run one peak time and show what the difference is

50mb down 20 up and 16ms more than happy with that at peak

Okay nice. Did some tests there before could not get more than 50Mbps on my S8 but guess I was just not close enough to the tower. Nice speeds. Yeah I'm in a Mini tower in Wierda Park so it maxes out just short of 100Mbps. On LTE-A, LTE B40 and LTE B3.

Tried running multiple routers but then the connection just gets shared between the routers so I think the tower backhaul is just limited to 100Mbps. No problem for me because surrounded by fibre so people are on fibre and not the LTE and not even using external being 150m from the tower. Joys of this uncapped simcard :giggle:

I'm also in pvr, been using a B315 for a while, but speeds no where near as good.

Just got a b525, still have to hook it up and do some tests.

Hi Snyper and Cavedog

Seen some of your speedtest results hitting 100mbps on the download using the Huawei B618 -65d router.

I am thinking of getting the B618-65d router but would like to ask:
do you guys set the router to the 2300mhz band manually on the router's settings interface (ie. 192.168.8.1) or do you guys set it using the Huawei band changing tool or are your routers set to automatic and the router chooses between 1800mhz and 2300mhz automatically ?

I am on the LTE uncapped deal at R525 per month and I'm using an external antenna and a Huawei B315 router. My router is set to the 2300mhz band and I currently average 30mbps down. Do you guys think using the B618-65d router will result in a significant improvement in my download speeds ?

Thank you

Yes if you manage to find my old posts you would find that I mentioned that my speeds improved about 3 to 4 times whether peak or offpeak. I do use the tool to force it to 4g+ in order to hit optimal speeds.

Thank you for the reply.
I will try procuring a B618 router this morning from a Telkom store.

Do you possibly have a link (and instuctions) to where I can download the tool which forces it to 4g+ ?

Thanks again

Anyone using opensprinkler on their uncapped lte? I'm struggling to connect from outside my network. My alarmin app(paradox alarm) works fine as long as I update my ip when it changes. Not ideal. Is there any to get a fixed ip with this service?

Any other solutions that don't require me updating my ip when the router is restarted?

You need a dynamic DNS service like duck DNS - has an app that updates IP every 5 minutes.

Tried purchasing a B618-65d from two Telkom stores in Jhb yesterday, but they refused to sell it to me. Said they don't do cash sales, just contract sales/deals.

If anyone knows of a B618-65d for sale, even if it is used, please let me know . . .
