Nope it won't just don't fall for their tricks saying it will be cancelled automatically or be discontinued ect. Just clearly state to them I do NOT give you permission/consent to amend or cancel this contract. They always just sigh and say okay.
Im holding tight too mine R625 a month never capped over the two+ years. Also got a 618 router to boost the network totally worth it!

Question to anyone using news servers to download....do you get throttled after the initial 50gb? I haven’t used news servers in a long time and know that torrents get throttled when you hit the initial 50g cap

IF you use port 119 which the the default I think it will fall under the 50GB p2p and usenet limit. If you use a SSL port then it should be unthrottled until you reach 300GB. You can use the saix free usenet server but that uses port 119 so the 50GB limit will apply.

Cool, will give it a go next month and see how it works

I've been on uncapped from the outset of the promotion, currently almost a year into the R529. I adapted the E5186-61a in November last year and that was a failed experiment. Just upgraded to the B618-65d about a month ago but also could not establish the speeds that I had initially even with the outside antenna. Router was stuck on 2-3 bars irrespective of internal or external antenna. Last night an update was delivered to the B618 and then I started getting full signal. The signal stats still remain the same but the router shows full signal. I am perplexed by this. Anyone else in the dog box. I have a tower line of sight at 1,7km. 3 years ago I started with 60-70mb/s, now averaging 10mb/s. The 618 picks up a range of different towers with the 4x4 but just can't seem to push the speed. Edit . locked on 2300mhz.

Most likely tower congestion

With your SINR in the minus is not a good thing. Something is making a lot of noise between you and the tower.

As someone suggested it could be tower congestion but I think you should start getting better signal before making that call. With sinr in the negative I'm pretty sure that it has some effect on the speeds you are getting. Maybe not much but some.

Hi Cavedog,

from your experience - can you perhaps advise on how one could go about improving SINR?

Tower congestion was the original problem, not since the upgrade to the B618, now its purely a signal issue it seems. I am not certain that my original tower upgraded to LTE-A, the 618 does not pick it up. I have towers behind me, I suspect the large bank with trees towering my home is creating all the noise.

Has Telkom dropped the 4Mb from 300gb-350gb? As I've just broken 300gb and limited to 2mbps which use to happen after 350gb usage.

Any advice on increasing speeds on b525. I have 4 bars and my speed varies from 8 to 23 Mbs on a good day

So this morning I noticed my cell ID has changed.

It is now showing CELL_ID: 0033024-003

it used to show 8454144 or 8454147

Is it a glitch on the tower as it seems to match the eNB-LCID number below?

I have improved my speed by live tuning with LTE watch by connecting my external xpol6 and then just adjusting for the best signal. The trick is to not target just one metric but to go BIG MODE and just adjust until you can push the green signal bars to max which is really the best signal for the whole medley of metrics instead of just targeting sinr for example. The final result will be the best overall reception for your position based on the tower you are locked to. Do this for both 1800mhz and 2300mhz and test throughput once you max out. I am on the B618-65d so you might one to stick to the 2300mhz bands to take advantage of the LTE-A if you have the 65d. Upload speeds seem to better on the 1800mhz band. Explore the full 360 rotation on your external antenna if you are not sure about where your broadcasting tower is. You might just be surprised.
