Looks like OOB redirect has been taken offline because all my prepaid simcards with no airtime or data has open internet Pulled 5gb on a sim now with nothing on it.

My b618 is connected to a Huawei b315 battery pack. It lasts like 4 or 5 hours depending.

I see my tower as soon as the power goes off the speeds are capped at 20Mbps max. I think the fibre backhaul is down or it limits speed to save battery power.

I've been so much downtime lately, it would connect and then go red like every ten minutes.... If only if it was possible to use 3G on this and not just LTE

Seems like the Unrestricted APN isnt working anymore. Doesnt connect to international locations

34. Telkom Mobile 3G failover shall only be supported as a failover measure in instances where the LTE network is down and it must be stressed that the SmartBroadband Uncapped Wireless service is a fixed wireless service which must be used in a fixed location and not for mobility. The SmartBroadband Uncapped Wireless subscriber shall not be able to roam on MTN’s 3G network

Im not sure if this is the latest TOS for the SmartBroadband Uncapped Wireless Package. But this is what a quick google search got me. Never been able to use mine on 3G in any instance though.

Can anyone with kodi quickly do a test for me? Can you open the kodi addon repo and try to install anything? I’ve now tried on 18 rc2, 17.6. On my shield on my Mac air and imac. But it just gives and error

try change your APN to Internet and give it a go again.

had a similar issue the other day with Kodi - changed from unrestricted to internet APN and it worked

Seems you're really familiar with LTE configs and you've done the hard yards in chasing the best config and attainable speeds.

Hoping you can shed some light on a question:

If I were to combine a Directional Antenna and an Omni antenna in my chase for speeds - would that at all make a difference? I'm currently maxing at 25Mb/s and I'm not entirely sure why?

Current config is

B618-65d
XPOL-006 External Antenna

I'm not sure if my lack of higher speeds are congestion related. My nearest tower is about 800m away and it must be said .... it is behind an apartment building which does somewhat block direct LOS.

I get a sense I may have just answered my own question - but thought I'd get your input on it.

So in my quest to test Telkom Vodacom roaming I discovered an easter egg on Telkom.

Telkom has started refarming 2100MHz 3G spectrum and rolled out LTE on that band. It's only 5MHz spectrum but LTE Band 1 now live on Telkom. That gives us these options for LTE on Telkom.

LTE Band 1 (2100MHz) 5MHz spectrum
LTE Band 3 (1800MHz) 10MHz spectrum
LTE Band 40 (2300MHz) 2 x 20MHz non continuous spectrum also used for LTE-A.

:)

I doubt that would work. Have you check speeds of internal antenna vs external? Connecting a 2x2 mimo antenna to the B618 essentially removes any possibility of 4x4 mimo. Could lead to slower speeds or make no difference at all.

Possible Telkom looking at Band 1 & 3 CA.
Seeing as both are FDD, band 40 is TDD, so it can't be aggregated with the band 1 & 3
