Telkom Uncapped LTE Deal - My Trials So Far...

We should all PM the Telkom rep on here and hope we can get some traction on it. I have already done so

When you speak to their support, they say is because of peak times??? Their network should be able to handle the traffic. Even if it slows down to a certain extent, slowing down to 1.4 meg is not acceptable.

Ok just got my tracking number after a number of calls. Im currently on the 50Gb LTE package and hit 40mb with my dongle so ill see if the speed is different on the uncapped side when I switch.

Don't wait for the call! Phone 10213 and follow prompts to check state of your order, hang on patiently for up to an hour for a sales person to help you. Do this daily until you get a courierit tracking number from them. once the item has been delivered wait until the afternoon, then phone local CoutierIT branch to confirm that they have scanned your RICA documents.

Guys phone in the evening I believe Telkom call center is open till 8. I called just after 6 and the call was answered before the music even started during the day you can easily wait 30 min+

Only 23 spaces taken so still 137 spaces open. So low uptake in my area. Might be because 40mb vdsl available? Fibre sadly not even on planned area yet neighbourhoods have

If you get this uncapped deal in one area on a specific tower, will it still work if you move the modem to another area or do they lock it to a specific LTE tower? Granted of course there is also LTE coverage in the other area and this deal is also available there.

Yes it should work if you move to another LTE tower in a different area as experienced by some here

Weird thing, according to Telkom's coverage website I can get this deal at my house, at my sisters new house not even 2 km away but technically falling under a different suburb, they say the deal is unavailable, even though there is LTE coverage. I don't know where exactly the tower in the area is, but I bet line of sight between her house and the tower doesn't differ much to mine.

Not really weird at all, given that uncapped LTE is a promotional deal, available in certain areas and in limited numbers only.
Read from here onwards for a bit.

Unless your sister specifically needs Uncapped (big gamer ?), why not sign her up for ordinary (capped) LTE ?
Some good deals with speeds and prices that match or even exceed fibre.

This is the 3rd week that I'm waiting for a techie to come and install the external - so frustrating, logged calls, engaged via Twitter and FB but still no action.

Has anyone experienced worse signal strength or slower speeds with the external over the internal antenna?

I get around 50-60 Mbps with or without antennae. Took a while to find a sweet spot. Ended up being on a windowsill

I have had the waybill number since Friday, but its not logged on CourierIt's system. I am literally 1Km from them. They said Telkom have not yet delivered. Should I just wait this out or follow up and with who?

Same situation with me - Have a waybill number since Thurs
My office is 1KM away from the courier :crying:

techie came out on Friday to me
there was no improvement with the antenna, he couldnt get any faster speeds than without the antenna
I think on the 1stfloor in a block of flats, surrounded by trees and not in the "lte area" it could be a problem
He said he will escalate it with telkom, but im not holding my breath

Currently getting between 5 - 14megs download

No one knows where it is, that's the problem.
Tracking number hadn't been registered with them

I also have this issue, its not on the Courier It system yet and as I mentioned Telkom has assured me that it has left their warehouse. This should apparently be on the system by this afternoon, but until then there is no way to trace it.

Same here. Telkom promised to call me with the waybill number last week Wed. I eventually called them this morning and got the WB number. I thought it was progress, but Courier IT don't have it on their system. I guess I'll try again tomorrow...
