We have two TV's constantly on Netflix in Full HD and does not buffer or impact normal browsing. Mommy and Kids are happy therefor I would pay 3 times as much if I had to. Plus uncapped. Had 40 Meg VDSL plus 200Gig replaced by this. Will downgrade the line to 4 Meg for torrentz if needed.

gees, your data usage must be through the roof....I do half that and my 12 days usage is 215 GB.

First thoughts

Hi everyone .Im a newbie on the forums so please bare with me.
Johannesburg south Robertsham
I've just got my telkom LTE-A 50GB+50GB
But sadly im not covered by LTE-A in my area. I wanted to know if its worth getting a external antenna? Would it make a difference to my speed?
Currently getting solid 3 bars
Speedtest : 34mbs down /3.3mbs upload
Any advice would be much appreciated!

I would insist on the Poynting external antenna yes. In the case of the R599 uncapped LTE promo, the external antenna is included in the deal, as is free installation so it's a given if one has purchased the promo.

@raees_cajee you would most likely have to purchase the antenna and either install it yourself or pay Telkom to do it, so in your case it's not as straight forward.

I do believe the antenna makes quite a significant difference in performance so IMO it's definitely worth installing.

In my case it was the difference between around 15-20mbps and 65-80mbps.

We have found that the Poynting antenna makes absolutely zero difference.

Consistently gives same or often lower stats compared to flappy paddle

Same with me. They couldn't get higher speeds with antenna when they came to install.

So another router in Bridge mode?

Also would like to know if another router in bridge would work? I have a brand new DGN2200 I would like to use. US Netflix working for me, but I prefer the DNS settings in the router rather than devices.

+1 on that one. Received my box with goodies last night. So currently in that "Bermuda triangle" waiting for activation and then the antenna installation...

This wait from my experience is even worse :p but contact courier it to make sure they scanned the docs already mine weren't until I called, not great added +-12 hour delay.

Snyper, confirmation via? SMS? Call? Got my stuff yesterday, but SIM is still not active.

I had to phone 3 times (10213)... they can do a manual activation takes 4-12 hours phoned at 14:00 yesterday activated at 11:04 today. Make sure courier It sent your docs through though.

Im sorted my wife just sent the photo of the router with live sim :) so it didn't take to long. But communication is an abs nightmare. I hate that I have to followup I hate that I have to wait 40-60 min to get through. They need to change the call centre to say "there are 40 callers on the line etc" all the best. you are almost there. In all fairness they do say it takes aprx 48 hours.
