Telkom chat says sales must activate, they cant and it can take 72 hours. Eish.

The antenna technicians came but we weren't able to affix it because the best reception is on my neighbour's roof. They told me the vertical antenna isn't included in the deal. I thought it was? They said only the rectangle antenna (is it called a paddle antenna?) is included. So they agreed they would come back with a short pole which allows me to put the antenna higher and keep it on my side of the sectional. At the moment, with the router only, I'm getting 15-20 Mbps with a measly upload of 0.20 Mbps.

There are 4 people in my complex with this deal. It's popular hey?
They should have had a pole if below post is correct

I did a quick test with another Telkom sim and I got 1 bar LTE signal. Speed test was just over 10Meg down and almost 1Mbps up. Thats already more than double what I had with ADSL.<br />

Hope they didnt charge for roaming data ☺
The sim is not capable of roaming/working on Telkom's own 3G so I'm sure if it connects wherever it's because Telkom allowed it and will not charge extra :)

Now on track it it says they only texted me on 23 at 16pm and received pod 00:06 last night.

What a load of ...

So after 4 weeks of constant enquiries, the Telkom tech is here now so install the external. After some trial and error, gone from 3 bars to 4 and that is with line of sight @ 2.5km. Speeds remain the same - 25 before, 25 after even with 4 bars signal - what a waste of a month.

has anyone tried to get this being just outside of the coverage?
i am 5.1 km away from the base station with line of sight.

Ok Techie done and dusted. Gone from 25 to 35 mps at 10:45. My thinking on this is I pay 1200 a month for 10 mbs uncapped ADSL. Now I pay half the cost for at least double the speed - so happiness!!!

Lets not think everyone is going to get the 80+ mbs speed. I have eventually made peace with this.

I have been at Telkom for 40 mins now and these clowns still can't find this package on their system.
Is there a specific number reference or something I can give them? I got to get out if here.

Telkom stores aren't linked to this deal at all. Online sales, and then telephone hell for a month.

I emailed Courier IT my documents for scanning this morning, as they didn't take them when they delivered the package. I get a response saying that they've already scanned all my documents on Wednesday and I don't need to submit anything further!? I've asked for clarification on this, but it does seem that these guys don't all know that everything needs to be scanned through.... I've been dealing with the Durban branch by the way.

Hopefully he's right and Telkom can activate without my ID and proof of residence. I am an existing customer for both ADSL and Mobile. But it has been 2 days since scanned and I've got nothing but a terrible red light on my modem :/

Silly question, but have you restarted your router?

I only had proof of residence and no id and had mine activated in 48hrs. but I only knew when I restarted my router. I switched off, removed the sim, put it in and restarted, and light turned blue.

Hi there, just be careful on this point. I also took out a contract three weeks prior and they refused to use my existing documentation even though it was in their system. They needed to use the scanned docs.

There is a guy. He is happy with his speeds. Better than people in the coverage area ☺.
