@Looney, I have Telkom LTE, but can't get uncapped as that is only for selected Jhb suburbs. That is what is ticking me off slightly.

Yeah I get that. One of the suburbs is Glenhazel and I live in Glenhazel but my street doesn't seem to be covered on the map, ie I'm just outside the coverage. Question is will it still work?

I have EVENTUALLY, after lots of back and forth on that page, found the area where you request it for your area. Let's see if that actually counts for something to them.

"How did you do that?", you might ask. Well, here is where I found it:
On that page (http://www.telkommobile.co.za/smartbroadband-uncapped-wireless/), scroll down to the section with the heading "A first in South Africa with Telkom. The sky is the limit with Uncapped Wireless Broadband." In that section there click the button "FIND OUT MORE ABOUT LTE". In the section that opens then, there is a "coverage map" link. Click that, then search for your area using the text field in the coverage map. If you are not covered, you will then get the option to fill in a form to fill in details to inform Telkom that you are interested.

Ironic. Those who can't get it want it and those like me who can don't want it.

Rather get ADSL. Do premium service for only R699 Month-to-month don't sign on any dotted line. Includes landline rental + Adsl line rental + ISP or signup for a Telkom Simple 2 meg for R399 or 4 meg for R499. Shop around for an uncapped account.

I used my account once I was capped the service was crap. Returned it back to the branch to cancel my contract. R599 for 50 gig wasn't worth jr

So have you managed to use the uncapped lte deal? Im really interested in it as I have coverage, but don't want to find out that it's useless once cap has been reached.. my thinking was i would be able to use it uncapped for almost everything i.e browsing, you tube, streaming expect for torrents which i would use my cap for? and if cap is reached the service should still run at full speed just not for torrents?

I cancelled my service immediately. Once I switched on the router wasn't able to jack even with a normal standard sim card.LTE was inaccessible at all; meaning no throughput whatsoever...

I wouldn't advice signing on the dotted line in the event there is a problem with the lte network you won't be able to switch between lte and 3 G.

Once you use the 50 gb allocation the service becomes capped..

Hi,

Is it just me - how come nowhere in all Telkom's fancy promotion for this offer do they even mention that its Joburg only? Or did I miss it somehow.

"Your suburb is going places". Oh no its not. Or not with this offer, anyhow....

In the fine-print they say "Telkom has identified select LTE base stations across the country where SmartBroadband Uncapped Wireless Service will be made available to Consumer / Mobile / SMBS customers".

Meanwhile, the coverage map shows clearly that its Joburg only.

Yours,
Grumpy Capetonian.

I'm not happy with the Herald at all right now. The entire front and first page is an advert for this crap. Meanwhile I'll struggling my ass off to get to 123net's minimum 300 signups per area. If they just placed a mention for that on the front page this could be met but no, money talks!

Dude find out how much it cost to advertise on the front page... We can all get money together and contribute R1to each and make it happen

All? I see you're in Joburg. Not going to help you or most people here to advertise in a local newspaper. But I was thinking how much it would cost to insert my own pamphlets.

It's at times like this that I wish that other organisation was still around. The one that took out an advert in the Sunday Times.

It appears they've made a fake cover for this
