Telkom Uncapped LTE not working

Hi

I have the uncapped LTE package with Huawei router, and have had this for > 1 year. Since last night, I have been unable to connect to the internet, despite the router lights all being appropriately lit up, and the my devices being able to connect to the router. I have barely used any data this month, so that is not the problem.

Telkom first told me I was on an uncapped package with a 50GB throttle point. I explained that not only was that not true, but I have not even used 50GB anyway. They were stumped and logged a ticket with a 72 working hour turnaround...which, given all the public holidays, is next week Wednesday.

Any thoughts? Would a Telkom store be able to assist?

Thanks

Go to browser
Type in: 192.168.8.1
click on: go directly to webpage at bottom right
user lowercase "admin" for both username and password and login
click on later
go to settings
click on system at left menu
click on restore defaults
click on restore, etc

Obviously not...

Is your network indicator light LTE or 3g or what? It goes a different colour based on the connection?

I had a similar issue last year. Everyone stumped. Logged call, had tech out at the house, nothing. Eventually went to a Telkom store, they checked and my debit order hadn't gone off. They had subsequently double debited, but a forced cutoff had gone through. Gave them bank statement and all sorted, back online in a day.

Yes, they are correctly lit up. I've seen these lights for the past 14 months...I know their colours. It is the standard light blue colour it has always been. They also checked and said that my account was paid in full.

Then do a factory reset and try?

Reset ur router back to factory default first.

Then connect via cable to the router.. check the IP address you get.. must be in the 192.168.x.x range.. if in the 169.x.x.x range.. reset your lan card on windows..

Log on to the router as Josh B explained.. your password will reset to admin once u factory reset. check the APN settings.. u can create a new profile and set the apn to TelkomInternet

By the time I got home, it was working again. This morning however, it has stopped again. Most unusual.

Some additional info:

When I reset the router, I can access one or two pages before it stops working. This happens each time. Oddly, even when I can't browse the Internet, I can still send iMessages from my phone. If I take the SIM card out of the router and put it into my laptop, it all works. I have tried another router...but same problem. So the sim and router seem fine...but not together...

Any idea why it would suddenly stop working?

Your router may be tower hopping

Use the huawei toolbox and set your router to use only the 2300Mhz.. i posted in another thread the API. If the 2300mhz band is the problem child.. then select the 1800Mhz band. that may give u better internet service.

Interesting thing I noticed about the B315 is that since I installed an Ubiquity EdgeRouter™ X SFP and disabled dhcp, firewall, wifi etc on the B315 the download speed went from +-25Mb/s to +-55Mb/s and I did not have to reboot it for a month.

Interesting this is

Did you try enabling all those features to see if the speed drops again??

Clarification on Telkom’s SmartBroadband Uncapped Wireless FUP
Telkom’s SmartBroadband Uncapped Wireless includes the following benefits:

• Unlimited Data
• P2P (Peer-to-peer) bundle with 50GB FUP cap
• Wi-Fi bundle with 10GB FUP cap – Subscribers will have to link a second device to this account via Telkom Mobiles Self-service portal to consume the Wi-Fi bundle

This is to clarify that the P2P bundle with the 50GB fair usage policy cap ONLY applies to Bit Torrent traffic that is downloaded via peer to peer and news servers protocols (NNTP). Customers will enjoy full speeds on the 50GB P2P bundle between 12am – 6pm and will only be throttled on the speeds between 6pm - 12am which is Telkom’s peak period on the network. This has been effected to ensure that we maintain a good user experience for all users on the base station and not compromise Telkom’s network performance during peak network periods.

All other traffic types including streaming traffic via HTTP/HTTPS protocols like video, music, YouTube, AppleTV, Box Office, Netflix, VPN, VOIP, real time online gaming, updates and gaming downloads (with the exception of PS4/Xbox One updates and downloads which will come off the P2P bundle) will not be capped and throttled. This means consumers will enjoy the full benefit of a truly uncapped experience with Telkom’s LTE Uncapped service.

telkom being dishonest and lying again. Also all their agents said it is 50 gig capped to me , but thats for FUP cap. They do not even know their own terms and conditions , do not know their own product they selling and are completely unfit to give proper correct answers.no one will take this if its 50 gigs.they do not know what they doing and all their agents need to go on training and start reading telkoms own terms instead of just saying anything to us customers. They are dumb and giving us false information. They can be sued for false adverting.Dont they know the law ?
