Yeah, just look how a decrease in prices has destroyed the infrastructure in other countries.

Forcing wholesale prices down would remove any desire by Telkom to invest in more infrastructure, he said.

You stupid ****. If telscum media wants to make a profit they will need infrastructure. If telscum ADSL wants to make a profit they will need infrastructure.

There is still a reason for telscum to invest in infrastructure. The fact that they no longer make billions of rands of profit from infrastructure alone is a pity.

Poor ****ing telscum. :D

After yesterday's spate of bad news, I really do hope that Icasa go ahead and enforce price cuts and larger caps for all of us...

How can Telkom moan (how dare they) when they make a major profit out of us every year?

Think it is time for Telkom to apply vaseline to self... :D

And, for once, I hope Icasa got a pair of nice big ones...

having spoken at length to the members of the panel conducting these hearings they ain't swallowing anything....mr williams can do his best but the calibre of people on the panel is far superior

one of these is James Hodge who is the author of the Genesis Report - see http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/archive/index.php/t-19825.html

Question is how much of Telscums exorbitant profits since 2004 have been invested in infrastructure growth?

And how did those investment translate in lowering costs that would allow more customers to join in thus unleashing this "economies of scale" that Telscum representative where throwing at us all this time.

BURN Telkom, BURN

I think things are gonna get ever more hot for Telkom.
Too long have they been taking and not giving back.
Its all political CRAP, but at least ICASA is thinking about intervening.
Might they fear that if ICASA force their fees down, MTN might reconsider buying them???
OH, I wish that divine punishment would finally crash down with a vengence on *worst 50 swearwords* Telkom. The wheel turns.
BURN Telkom BURN...

Telkom needs to realise that with the imminent start-up of the SNO, it will not be the only game in town.

It's choices are simple. Adopt a business practice which will cause people to purchase its services or adopt a practice where the opposition's offerings are more desirable and thereby lose the business.

It's really not that difficult.

Telkom sounds like a petulant child: "If you don't let us keep ripping the public off, we're going to stop providing infrastructure, so there!!" And what a wonderfully spurious argument by Mr Williams: "If you make Telkom's infrastructure cheaper than it costs to build your own, then people won't build their own." Wow. Mr Williams, I LIVE for the day when Telkom's infrastructure is THAT cheap.

hahaha maybe time to sell those Telscum shares :D

So, how does it feel to be on the business end of a long sharp stick Telkom? Best you get your super slick and slimy lube out, it could be a rough one :p

Shame!!!!

Ahhh shame if Telkom are forced to lower the prices poor little Telkom will suffer. Doesnt anyone feel sorry for the fat cows who run this company. Instead of there pockets getting full to the top it might only make it to three quarters full.

Personally i really dont care if Telkom wont be able to invest in any infrastructure. Currently Vodacom and MTN are rolling out there own, so to be honest if Telkom was wiped off the face of this earth i wouldnt be sorry.

And Shame on Mr Williams. He has sold his soul to a devil like Telkom, no doubt at a nice price. He has no integrity. can they honestly expect us to sit here and believe the worthless **** that comes out of there mouth. he should be placed against a wall and shot.

Let me think about the consequences of lowering the prices. Consumers will get reduced prices. other companies will get reduced prices. everyone except Telkom will win.

So what negative effects is it going to have???

forcing a cut in the wholesale fees that other operators paid to use its bandwidth would deter future investment in infrastructure and damage SA’s telecoms sector.

Geez, and that's not bullying tactics.

Wasn't it Telkom media that wanted the pay tv playing fields leveled so that everyone could be equal.

Freekin hypocrites. Makes me sick.

Come now we all know Telkom's agenda  really I have to admire how blatant they are without trying to come across as the good guy whatsoever lol. As far as I see it this just shows their true image. No surprises either :p no reason to be angry we knew they would do this anyway, so predictable I tell you.

We should be a few steps ahead of them knowing they would try and turn it upside down for their own pockets. Don't waste your time believing Telkom will ever change. They won't!!!

In stead of making R12 billion profit this year Telkom will be making R11 billion. Shame the poor shareholders will get less dividends and Ivy won't be able to afford doughnuts for the rest of the year.

Spin us another one Telscum (and by the way ****).
