Telkom wasted R200 million on Bain - Report

I have absolutely no love for Bain. It's because of them that I lost my car allowance at work, was dropped 2 post levels and had a salary freeze for two years.

Your company made those changes not Bain, blame your employer.

The company used them for restructuring, and ALL of their suggestions and recommendations were implemented.

But, I suppose technically you are correct.

So i understand from this article Sipho Maseko is a very corrupt man. He introduced Bain to the rest of the Govt departments so they could milk all departments.

^ Does read like that. Interesting that he is/was considered the next bright black hope and the cure to all and sundry issues.

Who or what is BCX and what has it to do with Telkom ?
BCX is a merger of Business Connexion (whom Telkom bought) and Telkom Business - basically the business services division of Telkom. Both provide a lot of network and ISP services to many large South African businesses and government entities.

Sipho and Bain help each other to get rich, to the detriment of the company and also to the detriment of Telkom's customers and the country. Reuben and Mc Kinsey had is similar arrangement with the NIgeria and 8ta fiascos.

Pinky and Delta Partners had a similar arrangement with the ngn fiasco and the billions paid to China for superfluous equipment

I (and many other consultants) do a lot of advisory work for the telcos and can do most of what they do at reasonable prices. We understand the local market better, we have a personal stake in the outcomes as we have to live here and we can be called to account. Yet these big companies pay top dollar, treat McKinsey, Bain, Gartner and others as deities and do nothing to support local business. Granted, there are some local bad apples here too, but the track records should speak for themselves.

They'd rather pay an American company 200 million than pay a local company 2 million for the same job. If you are foreign i.e. Gupta or American you are better than black, you are exotic.

Yes i also held him in high esteem.

Looks like all that is down the drain now.

Then you will get BLF and EFF shouting White monopoly capital at local guys.

When in reality its Government that is doing business with overseas companies.

Not worth a separate thread but my Telkom account now runs to four sheets although a single sheet would suffice.
I wonder this is a case of deliberate overuse of paper to generate kickbacks for some of the comrades.

The reality is that you and all the others are not CONNECTED. The mere fact that you can do the same job for far less means that there's no appeal to the powers that be - no bloated contracts, no kickbacks (sorry, commissions) and all the benefits that flow with such lucrative contracts.

If you guys just knew how many competent black guys at Telkom and other state organisations are going to therapists you'd be shocked. They are so conflicted and overworked as they do all the work and have to look at all these Cadre deployments who do nothing. They can't speak up or they will get fired. So many competent people leave once they can't take it just leaving the rotten ones to eat the core out with their salaries for doing nothing and getting kickback deals.
