Hey Guys, its been a hell of a long time since my last post, I need to let off some steam, and perhaps entertain people with the useless nature of telkom.
To update you,
on Monday, May 29, 2006 11:08 AM
I sent telkom support a mail, explaining to them that any of my domain clients cannot send or recieve mail from telkomsa addresses, please to look into it, the reasons being mx records and buggy dns on their side.
between then and now, their have been hundreds of mails back and forth of the following nature:
after waiting long enough and getting several more mails of that nature, I sent them the following.
after giving up on waiting for telkom, I ended up trying to figure out their problems for myself, and ran a dig using a telkominternet dns server, and got a great result out of it.
basically, the result was that my comanys domain name was once hosted with telkominternet (before we owned it) , and they haven't killed those records, in fact, they try deliver mail to any of my clients using their mailserver, So i sent them my info, with the exact location of their problems, and how to resolve it.
Finally, I got a response from them.
All this time, my clients have been breathing down my neck, asking why all their mails to addresses@telkomsa.* get bounced.
The response said:
Finally, I am getting somewhere, or so I thought, I am still aggrevated with them, and have had no further feedback, so I just finished composing them another mail.
hopefully this nightmare will soon end, when a telkom admin spends 3 minutes of his useless day on actually doing something.
/END rant
somehow I feel a little better now, knowing that telkoms outfreeeeeekin BAD Service levels to their clients, and south african public and businesses is being published somewhere.
we wait, its now been 5 months battling with them over 1 single ns record!
useless companies must get booted out this country!

Hi Doram
No I have not our sysadmin are still busy till now they have found no problems
I will let you know as soon as i get more info.
after waiting long enough and getting several more mails of that nature, I sent them the following.
From: Doram Greenblat [mailto:doramg@w_SPAM_ME_NOT_d.co.za]
Sent: 25 September 2006 12:19 PM

Subject: I need urgent assistance.
I have previosly got fed up trying to get assistance out of you guys, but this problem is too big to leave alone.
All my clents cannot send mail thru telkomsa's smtp, when they are using telkoms dialups.
To make matters worse, many of my clients trying to send mails to certain telkomsa.net mail addresses get bounced, the reason...
The message could not be sent because the server rejected the sender's =
e-mail address. The sender's e-mail address was =
'info@orie_SPAM_ME_NOT_ntal-rugs.co.za'. Subject '', Account: =
'mail.oriental-rugs.co.za', Server: 'smtp.telkomsa.net', Protocol: SMTP, =
Server Response: '421 DNS temporary failure at return MX check, try =
again later (#4.3.0)', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 421, =
Error Number: 0x800CCC78
the same goes for sean@t_SMAP_ME_NOT_di.co.za, tonyc_pu_SPAM_ME_NOT_zzlepiece.co.za
please can you assist in this matter, I have attached my mails with this query from JULY, I believe this is heavy anti-competitive behaviour, and cripples other isp's and clients that do not host with telkom!
The problem is always the same, my clients sending or recieving thru your smtp server get rejected.
and clients sending to your addresses, get rejected with :"The return MX does not exist."
after giving up on waiting for telkom, I ended up trying to figure out their problems for myself, and ran a dig using a telkominternet dns server, and got a great result out of it.

notice the differences here, doing a dig using your dns servers, and saix dns servers.
Since we've been trying to resolve this problem since July, I would appreciate a prompt response:
dig mail.wd.co.za @196.25.1.1 (saix dns servers)
returns the correct authority for our domains,
while:
dig mail.wd.co.za @196.25.69.2 (telkominternet dns servers)
Returns the following:
;; AUTHORITY SECTION:
wd.co.za. 86400 IN SOA ns1.intekom.com. hostmaster.intekom.com. 2005102501 10800 3600 604800 86400
please try do this lookup using accurate DNS servers.
Once you realize telkominternet has domains registered on their dns servers that are no longer registered with them according to the registrars , please delete said domains and MX records(ie wd.co.za)
Finally, I got a response from them.
All this time, my clients have been breathing down my neck, asking why all their mails to addresses@telkomsa.* get bounced.

PLEASE PRIORITIZE THIS!!!!!!
I cannot carry on like this, we have been fighting this for months already, I have told your guys the solutionin the mails below,
I was told this is being forwarded to the administrators, this problem should take 2 minutes to resolve, please can somebody handle it, NONE of my clients using telkominternet dialups can work like this.
to see the problem for yourselves, run the following commands in a linux environment!
dig mail.wd.co.za @196.25.1.1
AND
dig mail.wd.co.za @196.25.69.2
196.25.1.1 is a saix dns server
196.25.69.2 is a telkominternet/intekom dns server (If there is a difference)
