indeed...

Overlooking the fact that it was a Telscum advert, I have to say that creatively it was nicely done. It reminded me of the recent mnet "Magic" advert.

I was initially under the impression that it was an advert for DSTV, then the Telkom logo appeared and all hope/interest was lost.

What I did find fascinating though was in the one scene where you see a yellow cab similar to those found in NY, how fitting... being listed on the NYSE and all.

I haven't seen the ad but I would imagine that the only thing Telkom brought out of the ICASA hearings was "another market to advertise our overpriced, underperforming services to".

Strikes me as the most likely reason for the current spate of "adverts"

Record It!!!!

We need to get a copy of the Advert and see if it is fit for an argument first.

If it is then we can use it in conjunction with ICASA to back them up even more.

Telkom is like a body that doesn't know its own parts are connected. The head turns one way the arm slaps the head the foot kicks the hand the toe falls off and telkom crumbles!!

If somebody can grab the ad in digital format it would be good. We must try and make a Telkom ad archive with explanations of how Telkom bends the truth...

Easy. Look for the prime time slots on the tv channels...
;)

Telkom has loads of money and will spend it there...

Sometime between 6h30 and 10 PM

I assume they would aim for anytime between 7 and 8 though...

Has anyone seen helkom's new (*i think) tv ad?
It aired on monday night during the 7pm news on SABC3...
Telling everyone how great adsl is and how it can be used for multimedia and online gaming...

The cheek of it.... and less than a week after they threaten to pull the plug on the whole thing.... HMMMM

Is there no way to take them to task for false advertisment. Is there no law against such?

This add is a pretty good ad. There is something that makes me wonder though. With ICASA telling telkom to drop their crazy adsl rental cost telkom replied that the cost is to their airconned houses ... em.. i mean airconed places with the wires in. So f they are so strapped for cash that they need the rental why make such a expensive ad? This ad was not cheap let me tell you that...

Those bastards love money! thats all it is! I wish i could just put in a line from the uk to my home. That would solve this damn thing quickly! I hate telkom...

Jay and Silent bob again!
"$^%$^ telkom, ^%$^ them up their stupid asses!"

It is all good and well, but at most ASA will make Telkom no longer air the ad. What I wish for is that they be forced to publicly apologise and say "We lied to you in our adveritising" but I live in a dreamworld.

It's like that ad about ISDN. The doctor saved the kids life in another country performing a heart operation because ISDN was supposedly soo fast. I mean HELLLOOOO how can a 128K connection stream video at a perfect resolution for Heart Operations in real time to another country without a Glitch???????

Telskommel seriously needs to look at their education about the internet connections.

They had to remov that because it was also faulse!!

Geeeeezzzzz I HATE TELSKOMMEL!!

Well i have sumbitted a complaint to ASASA - and i just got a response saying they are looking into it...

Of course if we can manage to record it and make a bigger case out of it, i don't think it would be a bad thing... i don't think my lonely little complaint is really gonna make telskum sit up and notice - despite the fact that ASASA might pull the plug on the ad.

Getting the Plug pulled on the ad is better then letting it sit there and Brainwash poor folks into believing ADSL in South-Africa is as good as they(telkom) say it is, Which as we all here know is total bollocks. And Im guessing they are losing some money on this if it gets pulled off the air, Mhehe *grins Ev0ly* :D

Viva le revolution!
cheers.

Just got a reply from ASASA, as follows:

ASASA said:
They [telkom's advertising agency] have also provided us with a copy of the relevant television commercial as well as a print advertisement. From this information we cannot find any instance where Telkom mentions that it has certain restrictions with regards its ADSL product.

Can someone please provide me with a valid source detailing the "abuse of adsl" policy that is inconsistant with the advert so that i can submit it back to ASASA
