A wobble is a good start. Next we want them to slide - maybe then they'll take notice.

<Q> Telkom accused Icasa of siding with lobby group MyADSL in too many findings.
Ngoasheng disagreed [ICASA]. "For me the most interesting written report was from M-Web.
"MyADSL was very strong in its three oral presentations but the written report was very general."</Q>

Ooooh - that's pathetic - teklom goes like - you're siding with MyADSL - teklom is less than pathetic.

The main sticking point was that Icasa believed Telkom should charge a once-off fee to install ADSL and a monthly line rental thereafter

Either the Business report has got this part wrong or I'm missing something. We're already being charged a once off fee to install ADSL and a monthly line rental charge threafter.

Share wobbles are great - now if we have any traders on forum who'd like to sell off a ton of Telkom shares, or start a great rumour..

Naturally I'm not suggesting anything illegal - anymore than Telkom did by threatening to withdraw an essential communications service from South Africa, which itself would impact dramatically on this economy.

In other words, if Telkom wants to threaten, via the Media, a form of what can only be described as Economic Terrorism and Blackmail at the South African economy - then I think its only fair that its market value should begin to fall.

Can the financial geeks on forum tell us how much in financial terms, Telkom's threats have cost it so far?
"Telkom's share lost 0.62 percent yesterday to close at R126.50, while the FTSE/JSE Top40 index advanced 0.77 percent."

What's the above convert to, in money figures? Is it more than Steve White's salary?

If we can get a money figure, I'd like to send Steve White a cheerful and cheeky 'Thank You' note (cc'd to the rest of the upper board of Telkom) for throwing away shareholders money - and mentioning how much I'm looking forward to his next comments, which hopefully would cost Telkom's shareholders even more money.

If we know White's salary - it would be brilliant to be able to show this fact, as well as point out that he's lost Telkom more money than he's being paid - and that we wonder where he's going to be employed next :)

The monthly rental that ICASA says users should only pay is the R92 one: the one that Telkom charges for the copper wire.

Up until now, we've been paying this monthly rental, the ADSL line rental and ISP costs. ICASA says the ADSL line rental should be done away with, meaning users should only pay for this rental once off.

Thanks mozez :)

I knew what ICASA proposed, but the Business Report article didn't make it very clear which line rental they were talking about.

Has anybody got a copy of SW's statement that the ADSL Line Rental is to cover the cost of Bandwidth. I see that he is now saying that it covers infestructure we need to get the conflicting statments into public view and also arm ICASA prior to the meeting.
