How does Telkoms soft cap work. What im asking is you know when you reach your cap you are allowed to use other pools of bandwidth right.

My question is are these pools for people in specific areas
Let me give an example.I live in Northcliff, now i go and klap my 2 gigs in a few weeks. My friend just up the road doesnt use his gigs ever. Will him and I be sharing bandwidth from the same pool? Or is it all ONE HUGE pool for Gauteng say?

As i havent been capped yet and im at 6 gigs.Am i in a 'lucky' area or what?
I hope you getting what im trying to say.Or is the capping just one random thing?

The Telkom techies throw darts at a board with ADSL accounts on it, that is how the decide who gets the CAP :)

But still, they are going to blacklist ppl now, if they do 2-3gigs over the normal cap.

Nobody should care about the Telkom Blacklisting warning, unless they really want to keep their TelkomInternet accounts for some stupid reason.

Yes - i really want to keep my 'uncapped' account

TelkomInternet dont want you to use more than 3GB, but I can get 3GB for like R130 - R199 from most ISP's. Why pay TelkomInternet R249 for 3GB. Imaginet has a 5GB for R280, so thats more worth it.

The people that have TelkomInternet because of relaxed capping will just switch when they get blacklisted. Its not the same value for money if they want you to stay at 3GB.

But still as much as people moan and bitch when you know you can go over your cap and download like a demon,i wouldnt switch. If you actually KNOW you got 3 gigs you will have to download 100 meg a day  how utterly sad.when im surfing and see what i want i just get it without thinking. If i only had 3 gigs id be stuck on the bandwidth monitor all day checking.I WONT switch until Telkom start capping me as soon as i hit the CAP.... When they do that im gone...as we didnt sign our souls to them :D

1.2. if the customer -
1.2.1. fails to comply with any of the terms and conditions of this agreement (including failure to pay any charges due) until the breach (if capable of remedy) is remedied; or
1.2.2. does or allows to be done anything which, in Telkom SA's reasonable opinion, may have the effect of negatively affecting the operation of the Telkom SA network or the provision of services to the customer or to any other customer(s) of Telkom SA.

I notice it says "Telkom SA" and not "Telkom Internet"

I wonder if that means then that they can suspend both services (ADSL + ISP) ?

By the way, how does telkom update ur usage?
Coz I downloaded two 700megs files off torrent yesterday(my first day using telkom internet) and after a disconnection and reconnection my total usage is at a whopping 350megs!?

If there's a pattern to it, would be nice to know it ;)
