Temu's dark underbelly

Chinese online retail giant Temu is accused of using manipulative practices, including dark patterns, to trick consumers into spending more than they want.

Over the last few weeks, Temu has been under fire in South Africa about its alleged questionable activities, including dodging customs and other taxes.

if you are stupid enough to fall for their advertising and games then so be it .
Almost all online retailers are doing it. Temu is just very upfront about it.

Hell, shops in a shopping mall do it as well. Limited time offers, "reward" cards, always on specials.

If they are going to regulate Temu, they should also regulate all other predatory retail practices

Sounds like a smear campaign
.im not defending temu, but since articles about Sars going after them were posted we started getting these type of articles.

Almost as if nothing gets done from Sars side the media will try convince the public to not use them

Who cares, still cheaper then any other place. Besides many businesses buy from them and re-sell it here at huge profits. Time local businesses start droping their prices or close down permanantly. Only reason I can think of why people still use shops here because they don't want to wait and easier to return things. But that is not good enough reason to pay 500% price increase on products.

But Temu love me. I am special because I raise 85 fish.
They have discounts just for me and sales just for me.

TakeAlot just take my money.
If you buy there then Uyghers die.

Jinne...you journos just love saying 'dark patterns' (ooh the dark underbelly!) and the entirety devoted to the idea in the article is:

“The online marketplace is rife with manipulative techniques — dark patterns — to get consumers to spend more than they might originally want to,” it said.
The rest of the article is just respun content from precious articles. Your temu articles are just getting stupid.

They've become a total joke.

This article is so schit, it's written by Staff Writer.

How is this any different than takalot's fake sale prices?
Hilarious how they've never once (that I can recall) written an article about the 'dark underbelly' of takealot or even mentioned the bs artificial price inflation that sellers pull there but with temu it's just fear mongering nonsense all the time.

They have.
