I think the real problem is further up the tree. ANC boss owns taxis, instructs police, SARS etc to leave them alone and they start to be able to do whatever they like without sanction. Killing people doesn't worry the ANC boss, he is probably more concerned with the damage to his taxi, how soon he can get it running and install another bought licence behind the wheel and start raking in the cash, again. Viva ANC viva.

Looks to me like the taxi was way over on the side of the road into the yellow line, possibly trying to overtake illegally, and smashed into the back of the truck. Horrid loss of life likely easily avoided by driving safer.

I wish road accident fatality statistics were released with which type of vehicle was involved. I imagine you'll find almost all accidents are caused by taxis. Bloody menace.

Doesn't look like that to me. There are 2 lanes and the taxi is in its lane where it's supposed to be. Not over the yellow line at all.

To me it looks like he didn't see the stationary truck or the truck was moving very slowly.

Yea you're right now that I look again. You can see the lane markings a little further back.
 
Having had to play chicken with a truck on mymotorcycle because they were doing the unsafe overtaking I would not place blaim quickly. That truck forced me, the motorcycle behind me and the car behind him into the emergence lane. The scary part is we were working with a cross wind coming from the far side requiring a signifcant lean to control. The space in the yellow lane was barely sufficient to control the motorcycle movement the moment the truck cut off the cross wind.

So true, taxi drivers are such reasonable fellows, all you do is point out where they are going wrong and they immediately take heed of the directions and correct their behaviour.

Was stuck behind 3 of them a few weeks ago around 11pm at night... They had positioned themselves into the middle of the road and were gapping a healthy 100kmh odd...i think they do this as the road is badly rutted where your wheels usually go when in your lane... nothing I could do otherwise than wait for the next town so I could get past them safely somewhere when they finally moved over...

Trucks and taxis... Keeping South Africa's undertakers busy...

If people using taxi all stop using Taxis because they drive like A-Holes do you think Taxi drivers won't change their ways?

Same tactics taxi industry uses to get their way, people can use it to get their way as well. Works two ways.

If 9 people tell the driver listen here drive nicely or we will bliksem you, you think he's just going to carry on driving like a ****?

No you stupid twat, the driver will tell the passengers complaining to shut up or get out, they take as much heed of passenger complaints as they do the rules of the road and police officers.
