For those who missed out on their last decade history of hyperinflation: http://www.adamsmith.org/blog/money-banking/theres-a-lot-of-ruin-in-a-nation

The highest – and last – banknote to be printed by the bank in 2008 was 100tn Zimbabwean dollars. It was not enough to ride a public bus to work for a week.

The bank said customers who still had stashes of old Zimbabwean notes could walk into any bank and get $1 for every 250tn they hold. That means a holder of a 100tn banknote will get 40 cents.

One of this year’s prizes went to Ahmed Shafik a (now late) scientist from the University of Cairo who studied the effects of wearing polyester, cotton, or wool trousers on the sex life of rats, according to Science Magazine.
Surely this is a spoof article

The Ig Nobel prizes are absolutely real, but also a spoof on scientific research. See: http://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-37443204 and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ig_Nobel_Prize

It is unlikely, though, that the German carmaker Volkswagen will appreciate the point or humour of the Ig Nobels.

The firm has been awarded the chemistry prize for the way it cheated emissions tests.

The 2009 Mathematics award:
Gideon Gono, governor of Zimbabwe's Reserve Bank, for giving people a simple, everyday way to cope with a wide range of numbers by having his bank print notes with denominations ranging from one cent to one hundred trillion dollars.

It's pointless to convert to Zim$ as they now use US$.
