South Africa's biggest data centre company kissing Eskom's coal power goodbye

Digital Realty's Teraco, South Africa's biggest data centre operator, plans to source all its power from renewable sources over the next decade, significantly reducing its reliance on Eskom in the process.

Teraco is Africa's leading carrier-neutral colocation provider. It is well-known for hosting the continent's biggest Internet exchange — NAPAfrica — critical for delivering fast access to online content and services in South Africa.

With all the kissing going on, MyBroadband is becoming a real romance.

How much do companies pay for connection fee?
That would depend on the size of the connection.. But for someone like teraco it could be many hundreds of thousands of rands just for the connection.

There is massive demand for renewable energy. A fact the ANC completely ignores.

Corporations want to run on renewables because it makes them look like they are part of the solution.
Makes them look like they are on the cutting edge.
They don't wanna be seen as dinosaur companies running on dinosaur fuel.
