Tesla and South Africa... How do we make it happen?

It’s just kak and fails at basic integration every other car does out there.

Especially when CarPlay 2 comes around.

I’ve shot down a few others for failing this very simple thing because I simply won’t live without this now.

I don’t need any of those things I don’t use. I want it to work with the thing I already have.
What do you do with carplay? Genuinely curious (I have never used it)

Operate my phone, my music, my navigation, my house.

All my contacts are integrated and all my other data.
Can do all that without carplay though...?
Homeassistant via casa nabu on a browser, native Spotify client (and others)... Car nav integrated with phone calendar so it automatically navigates you to appointments... Same with contacts/addresses.

Seems a trivial reason to write off a brand to be honest?

I reckon the large majority of EVs sold in the UK are salary sacrifice leases. The tax benefits are huge. The government is paying for 60% of my monthly lease...

See now a salary sacrifice with tax benefits would definitely interest me in terms of getting an EV...

Get me a fsckoff big Ford F150 lightning and take up 2 parkings at work :D

I don't quite get who is charging at a mall, unless it's cheaper than at home (could very well be! In CPT power marginal extra kwh costs about 30% less for bulk users than residential).

Ultimately if something like $10,000 BYD seagull was available I think it would do pretty well

We digress. Teslas... Because I want full self driving!

Those too lazy for X to research:
I want to see those self driving Teslas navigate cape town N1 traffic with taxis passing them in the yellow line. I imagine it will have a panic attack and the seize up.

Very big reason many write off Tesla and some other lesser cars.

I don’t use Spotify. Home Assistant just integrated with CarPlay (not that I need that since Apple Homekit).

Calendar integrated already and navigates me to stuff, no need to reinvent.

Can't talk to my car to setup reminders or add things to my grocery list.

Much the same reasons I won't switch to Android again as it simply breaks my life.

It would take almost no effort for them to integrate it along with Android Auto.

Not trying to be a Doubting Thomas but I don't see this happening in the short-term.

There is a massive gap from wants to signed off.

It is not remotely feasible at all at this current stage of the game to build EV's here man.

We can talk again in 2-3 years pending some government changes and/or new battery tech.
