Thanks for the information !

How about a group buy ? I know its risky cos you would need some kind of a deposit, but I for one would put down the money.

What you say ?

I'm in too, but depending on price obviously

I'm in on a group buy of the lithium batteries!

How long to land them in SA?

4-6 Weeks from when I ship them.
I'm not returning back to Cape Town till end of August (I leave end of the month), so would look to ship for arrival by then, as I'll have a full container of stuff ordered by then.

Stick me on the notice list if a group buy is going to happen.

R50K....R150K....I don't understand, why so expensive. My brother-in-law bought himself 2 Maxim batteries, will post pictures of his setup tomorrow, and two sun pannels on the roof and he powers all his lights in the house and his TV. All and all cost him just over R6000, I think he said he bought most of the equipment from Voltex.

Surely you jest!!!

So the system shown here will power your entire house for a couple of days. Also it will last a lot longer.

Here's the pics, as promised. I don't know the whole story, but what he tells me, is that his lights is all LED and all off the grid. His alarm and garage door also runs from this. His TV he switch to this when load shedding starts.
I don't have pics of the panels on the roof though.

l_sheed_cn's CALB lithium battery supplier has a 10kWh module suitable for household use, described as
Combined with battery charging, energy storage & management and PV-convertor, this module automatically detects off/on grid mode and is smart-grid compatible for shifting peak-valley. It is ideal for household power supply and is widely applied in countries as Germany and Japan and other undeveloped countries and regions.

One big difference is he has a completely separate circuit for the lights. The other setups you can switch your entire house between grid power and battery backup, so no switching over. You wouldn't even notice power going off. The setup you show is perfectly fine if that is your requirement (no fridge running, no other appliances).
