Tesla Powerwall is back in South Africa

Tesla Powerwall is returning to South Africa, Rubicon sales director Greg Blandford has told MyBroadband.

Pre-orders from Rubicon open on 2 December and the first shipments will arrive at the end of the year. Package deals with solar panels and inverters will be available at launch through Tesla's Powerwall Certified Installer network in South Africa.

R120 000 for 13.5kWh and a 5kW inverter isn't too bad.

13.5kWh*365*10 = R2.43 per kWh over 10 years. A bit pricey as this is without solar panels, but includes the inverter.

Over 20 years its only R1.22 per kWh, which is much cheaper than grid power.

I don't think the powerwall battery is going to last 20 years and provide the same amount of capacity during that period.
