With the long warranty, they will add value to the property when it comes time to sell. Expect the well healed to buy this in droves!
 
I am going all steam punk and setting up a boiler over a fire pit to provide my energy needs in future. Soon everything will run on steam! :whistling: Prasa should do the same and invest in steam trains!
 
That's some serious gouging they're doing. You can probably import the units on your own for much less than that.
 
Big difference with local alternatives is that the batteries will never last the 10 years which the Tesla Powerful is warranteed for. So any alternatives pricing needs the cost of at least one change of batteries included in the total outlay cost.
 
And is that taking into account just the powerbank or the entire setup?

Yeah, somehow a $3 000 / R40 000 Powerwall battery balloons up to R225 000. I can understand at MOST doubling the cost for customs / VAT / markup (to R80 000), but there's no way those panels and that inverter are worth R145 000.

And that's all before installation. What a damn swiz.

The article makes it sounds as if that's the whole setup - you are forced to buy the storedge with it.

I was quoted 70k for a 3KW system and 130k for a 5KW system.
225,000 is a bit much is it not?..
Solar is suppose to become more accessible and cheaper, not double in price..

Assuming you will need a battery change after 5 years (maybe, but probably not), you're in for another R16 000. Big deal.
