Tesla Powerwall sold out in South Africa – Here are the alternatives

Excuse my ignorance but is 1.5KVA enough ?
The Ellies trolley is 1200 W

Ellies Power Inverter DC 1200w/2000va 24v

Mustek also do / did something similar ( not sure if still supplied ? )

Mecer Power Solutions

I have FOUR various UPS's <ouch> One -- a TESCOM failed last week and the local rep says I must get a new one as the one I have is too old -- WTF

An all in-one solution like the above would be great -- I am however thinking I need something like 3 KVA ?

What does a Tesla Powerwall cost ?
It is better to get a good calculation of your power requirements than guessing.

I'm not sure why these Rubicon okes have an external inverter in their diagrams for the Powerwall 2.

The primary difference between it and the Powerwall 1 is that it now has a built-in inverter.

****

Okay seems it's a regional model thing. Weird.

Get yourself a effergy monitor

Switch off everything.

Switch on 1 item at a time

Write down power consumed

When done add up all items

This will give you reasonably good idea of your power consumption.

Some say the effergy is not accurate but I've tested a 14w led and it's spot on 14w on the effergy.
OK thanks for the suggestion
Any tips on how to go about this ?

Get yourself a effergy monitor
Ok thanks
Never heard of an EffingEnergy before :)

To take it a bit further -- are there any sites that cover the whole -- "alternative-power" home setup
ie. A step by step -- "How-To" -- to get away from EksDOM
Sort of like this

Going Solar

Bit disappointed in article, you would swear the Tesla Powerwall is the only lithium battery you can get in SA. :(

I once had links for another company in SA that does lithium powerwalls, can anyone remember who that is?
Was still expensive but not Tesla levels.

I have a whole network with a couple of workstations to keep running ........
and
Very little budget as the whole thing is -- educational and not making any money :barefoot:

You should replace those workstations with something more power efficient like a Raspberry Pi.
