Tesla researcher unveils million-mile battery

A research partner of Tesla has published a paper about a battery cell that could last over a million miles, Electrek reports.

Jeff Dahn and the rest of his lab released the test results on 6 September for the Li-Ion battery cell, which uses a single crystal NMC cathode as well as a new, superior electrolyte.

IBIWISI.
Let me guess, it'll only do 400 miles in the name of safety and longevity?
If you build them big enough they can do a few million miles I reckon.

Probably not on a single charge, but it's lifetime.

Yep, big current issue with electric vehicles is having to replace the battery pack every 8 to 10 years at a cost of R100K +. Would be awesome if they could figure this out. Also, forget cars, imagine what that will do to the total cost of home generated solar? Or Smartphone batteries that need replacing every 2 to 3 years. Bring it on already!
