Ugh everything is bad today! How on earth does one predict something like this because from where I stand it seems a lot like gambling.

It’s getting cold, common sense tells me people will start buying clothes, hence Woolwoths should be doing well.....same with Coca Cola, when summer starts they always do better, how the hell does woolworths lose 2.6% in less than 4 hours....

Can't there be some kind of graph available to see the past performance of companies before you buy their shares?

People buy clothes in summer as well. But you're thinking too short-term. Even if that were a factor in their revenue, it is part and parcel of their ordinary business cycle and will therefore its effect will be priced into the share already.

Think about sectors that you know well. I'm assuming you don't know retail all that well, or you'd have steered clear. Retail is under incredible amounts of price pressure of late, so rather stick with a market/industry/sector that you know and understand...

Lol I dont think gold mines are doing great ATM (see Harmony and Anglo Gold Ashanti) but I think they will pick up soon with all the unrests dying down.

Many analysts are still very bullish bout resources this year. I think there will be a few diamonds in the rough...
