Great game all in all, kind of bitter dweet. To come back in the last 10 minutes all credit to the all blacks. From 65 minutes I could see all our guys were spent, the big difference is the All Blacks fitness and their depth/bench. We still have a lot to celebrate we basically matched the best team in the world over 2 games and we might have an actual
Chance at the world cup next year. Just think how far we have come since loosing by 50 points a couple of years ago. As long as we all believe.

Subs are part and parcel of the game. Players empty their tanks knowing they going to be subbed in the last 10-20 minutes.

But AB's are known for their finishing. They last 20 specialists so I don't believe the subs lost it, the AB's won it. Give them their dues.

Our game to win and the sub's messed it up period first with the penalty and then the fullback he was pretty much right next to the ball and screwed it up.De Klerk should never have gone off, on another note we don't really have a back up fullback not that Willie is good to start with.

We got over confident and that cost as dearly

What a load of tosh. he's a superb fullback...he was everywhere yesterday plus he took a number of high, dangerous up and unders brilliantly without flinching. Thank G-d we have players of his calm and calibre in our team.

That is if he pitches up for the day, but he is no fullback of note , bar that he has absolutely no back up from his wingers majority of the time de klerk pops in now and then to say hello.Fullbacks do more then just take catches, kicking is also very important, while de klerk did a fair amount of kicking and some great kicks, willie doesn't have a boot of note, he doesn't do well under pressure.Measure him against some one like Percy Montgomery who often found him self at number 15, compared simply no contest.

Having one good game doesn't make up for the 100's of bad games he had.It's the job of the wingers and flanks to support him, even in this game rarely there were support, I guess it would make him better with the necessary support, he is no fullback even compared to rest of the rugby union fullbacks he sucks.

I don't think Willie is a **** fullback his main problem is consistency. He is either hot or cold never in between which is a big problem. Thinking about the subs don't we still have a quota system where x amount of coloured players have to be on the field / play?

It's 2018 , 2014 called it's wants it's nominee back, there hasn't been a single South African nominee since then.Being a nominee and not winning isn't prestige, even Duane who also got nominated stood a better chance of winning.

When Percy started he scored a try in every test, he was fundamental in the 2007 world cup leading point scorer as well, had better accuracy and 102 caps plus still the leading South African point scorer, compared to Willie who has had 49 test caps and 60 points.Sure, sure...whatever helps you sleep at night, as a benchmark he isn't particularly good.

So out of 200+ international players, being on a short list of 5 for the player of the year award, isn't prestigious? WOW!! Just... WOW!!! That there hasn't been a SA player since considered good enough to make the short list should have been your clue... but apparently not... Sure Malcolm will make it this year though and maybe even Aphiwe too.

The subs are taking the brunt of the blame which I think is a bit ridiculous.

The AB's are the best finishers in the sport, there's no disputing that so why blame the subs and not rather credit the AB's for their finishing?

We gave away a few soft penalties in the closing stages of the match and that cost us dearly. Koch penalized for holding on but the clean out from RG and co just wasn't precise and effective enough. The PSDT gang tackle which had the player off his feet. The ensuing penalty was harsh, as the player was put down.

And then we made a number of cardinal errors which you can't do against the AB's. The Faf De Klerk pass to no one when the Boks were hot on attack. The Eben/Louw fumble at the restart resulting in a AB scrum and try...

On 2 occasions we conceded tries after scoring.

We had a surplus of possession and territorial dominance in the first half but didn't convert and should have been at least 5 points ahead by halftime.

If you 20-0 up after 20 minutes or 20-0 down in the last 20 minutes, the game is the sum of all parts so to blame the subs for the loss is unfair. AB's also made substitutions. Your team is a squad and you have to trust your squad and your bench to be able to do the job.

Something which I'm also confused about. Aphiwe, in the closing stages of the match, went for the intercept but didn't catch the ball cleanly but he kicked it as it was falling. Did the ball touch the ground before he kicked it? And if it didn't why is it deemed a knock on?

It was knock on and not a kick.
