Again, if winning 3/9 inspires confidence within the team and management, then maybe that's where part of the problem is.
What's this 3/9 garbage?

Winning a few games now starts the upward trend for the upcoming series and starts the ship sailing in hopefully the right direction. When did I suggest that this would mean the tournament was a success?

3/9 is a statistic. A world-cup statistic. Useful to gauge our performance and if we need to change anything. Indicative that the trend won't just go up unless we change something. And even if we start winning - the time to win has passed. We never win when it matters.

That's the point.

Dwell in the past or look to the future. It's like the half full glass I guess.

In something like this team (or any team for that matter) when you look to rebuilding you gotta look for and take with you any positives you can. You shouldn't toss the baby with the bathwater.

I have a feeling Shamsi is going to play today .:(

Whatever happened to the mini Amla that I think was in our test squad?

The feeling within the team and the structure around it will be more positive and will make for better leadership decisions. I'm not talking about the fans and spectators confidence.
It will just intrench all the current gutter trash, not inspire more confidence and better leadership.

Sorry, meant limited overs cricket. Not much to write home about (nearly 1000 runs at 33) but he is still young so time is on his side...

Unfortunately, that means he will be sidelined until he's 32 and a half and then get thrown in the deep end two world cups from now and fail dismally. At least that's going on the way CSA currently select teams.

Only issue with his List A stats is the strike rate and average for now. His First-class strike rate suggests he'll be able to get the List A one up nearer to the 90's with more cricket hopefully.

I still want to see strong performances from the boys during these last two matches. I reckon heads are going to roll regardless of the outcome of the two games so they might as well go out with a bang. I also like to think that we'll now play freaking well as the pressure is off. For some of them, it could be their last internationals so the motivation to perform should be strong. Let's see.
