Grandhomme

128/6 28.1ov

If they fall more than 100 runs short it will hurt

Which is bullschit given the crappy pommy weather.

It's like the administrators like it when the weather determines outcomes...

Jeez, talk about exaggeration, todays match is either number 40 or 41 of the tournament and I can remember only 4 games with no result due to weather.

Not sure on number but there should none. They should have had reserve days

True, but its OTT to blame the weather for supposedly determining the outcome of the tournament when its so few games affected. It’s not like 10 or 15 games have been rained out.

So Pakistan needed Nzl to lose by > 200 runs for it change things so Nzl will likely still go thru to semis.

From Cricinfo -

Apparently for Pakistan to get ahead of New Zealand on NRR if they bowl first against Bangladesh, New Zealand need to be bowled out for 142 here and Pakistan need to bowl Bangladesh out for 0 and win with five wides first ball.

True but for Pakistan it makes a difference vs England. Ie England played all games, Pakistan played one less

My oh my............:laugh: England are in the semis.

Under huge pressure to win their last two games against India and NZ to qualify, and they did it so comprehensively.

Well done England

Look at the picture below.

If England lost today and Sri Lanka win their next one, both would be on 10 points. But England would be placed higher due to having more wins.

This through no fault of Sri Lanka's. The only thing they would have done wrong is having 2 matches rained out, while England had none.

The point being that it is a crap rule for the number of wins being a determining factor. It should be NRR straight away if you're tied on points. Why allow weather to play a more important role than actual performance?

The only thing you saw was crap pommy weather and went on the defensive, without considering the point being debated...

Pakistan will have to bat second and score the Bangladesh total in probably something like 15 overs to overtake England on net run rate to make the semi finals.
The top 4 is settled. It's just to decide if Australia or India finish first and the SA vs Aus game will decide that. Neither Aus or India will want to play England who have improved their form and at this stage is more dangerous that NZ IMO

Anyone know how many games have been won by team chasing? Feels like if you bat first and post anything around 300 you win. Pitches slowing up a lot in second innings
