It takes time for that form to filter down though.

Once Amla, Steyn, JP, Imran and AB retire, who replaces them?

Where those world class spinners, openers, fast bowlers and all rounders that our domestic cricket is supposedly churning out? Where those stellar SA A results suggesting that our domestic league is strong and healthy?

Losing players to foreign leagues does nothing to strengthen domestic cricket. Just look at the effect its had on our domestic rugby.

Loads of talented youngsters coming through...If you followed youth setups closely you would know them. Loads of them were named in the emerging side this last week...

Comparing SA side results doesn't really prove much. Some sides picking their second best 11 and others pick younger emerging players. So only judging on results there will not give the full picture...

I don't follow rugby closely to comment on the comparison. Cricket will be fine in the long run. Just going through a bad few games atm moment along with a transitional phase...

As for replacements:

Steyn : nortjie,sipamla or dupavillion
Amla : breetzke or janneman malan
Imran: shamsi, keshav maharaj or George linde
Jp:queshile/Kyle verryne & wiaan mulder
Ab: Keegan pietersen/van tonder, ect.

There are quite talented youngsters. Whether they will be as good as amla, steyn and ab time will tell. You don't replace legends easily go and aus fans how it's going replacing warne, mcgrath and gillchrist...They are still looking...

Poor performance by the boys.
They really need to rethink their game

A team makes 300 and still loses

FAF must step down as captain if they don't make the play-off.
Seeing the England and Pakistan series , England chased down totals of over 300 on a number of occasions . I felt like that was a par score set by Bangladesh and at the 30th over it looked like SA was on track to beat it. The problem I feel at 5 wickets down the batsmen start getting under pressure to protect the tail and are not free enough to play expanively.

Keeping Morris dropping Ngedi for Steyn would help in this regard but this will open up a new set of issues. Although another option maybe to get Markram to bowl more overs and get another batsman into the squad.

The top order got starts but we needed 1 or 2 of them to push on.

Lack of a proper batting all-rounder didn't help either. The tail is far too long, which everybody but the selectors, coaches and captain can see.

Well there are too many diamonds in the rough and there's no guarantee that one of them will become the next S.Pollock

Morning All,

As you can see, the sun did come up today and we've put the loss behind us. I'm sure Faf would have had some words with the team, he alluded to as much in his presser.

We lost two matches to quality opposition, but we cannot say that we played our best cricket and lost. That is what is so frustrating.
To me, it appears that they are really letting the occasion get the better of them. I hope that they have learned that you cant rock up on match day with 80 or even 90%. Each match requires your best. Or you will be shown up.

Every world cup match till the end of time will always be a pressure match for any South African team. Whether they are tournament favorites or not. Experienced or not. Under staffed or not. Injury beset or not.

After All of yesterday's emotion and doom and gloom mongering, I know that the team is better than what we have seen. And I'm sure they know it too.

We all want to see this team fight and not fold!

I forsee good things to come. :)

Ok rant over

Morris is the issue. Did you see that economy rate?

Ngidi can also have economy issues but his economy rate in the death overs vs England was way better.

This is the problem

it appears that we picked a best XI and some passengers. I hope I'm wrong and the boys step up to the plate.

This WC is going to be won by a squad of 15. Guys coming in need to be as good as the guys that are injured or rested.

Well, that sucked. Outplayed by Bangladesh. I wonder if SA has booked the early tickets home yet for the boys.

Just when you think Cap is nicely set so all he has to do is play it safe with ones and twos, let others hit out, and NOT dance down the wicke......... ****

Tsk tsk Faf.

We were in the exact same position against england, starting picking up the rate without too many risks, 147 - 3 and then the bipolar kicked in.

All our bats gotta be more careful when their scores are between 30 and 60. They seem to get reckless once they think they're in.
