Well we've got a bit of a problem now. I wasn't expecting a win against England and thought we'd beat Bangladesh but we were terribly poor again yesterday. The last few overs we let them score too many runs and the batting wasn't that great.

The India game must be looked at as a must win match for us to have a chance of making it through, otherwise we'll need Bangladesh to upset the likes of England and India to give us a chance.

Lucky the format changed this tournament or they'd be booked on flights home already.

India is a must win match.

Given our current form, and recent record against India its not looking likely.

Just when you think Cap is nicely set so all he has to do is play it safe with ones and twos, let others hit out, and NOT dance down the wicke......... ****

Tsk tsk Faf.

Running 1s, 2s and making 3s was required to win the game easily. Disappointed with Miller's batting before he got out hitting the ball hard to the long boundary for singles when it could of been played with softer hands for an easy 2.

I also find this kind of thinking counter productive. We want to be the best don't we. We should be able to beat anyone. I can't see why india would be more of a challenge than what Bangladesh was.

Every match sould be a must win match. We can't plan on losing some, then we might as well just call it a day and come home until we are ready to compete.

I don't disagree really... But we are just not looking like winners or the best at the moment, and I say that purely on the way the team looks at the moment and not the score lines...

The top order got starts but we needed 1 or 2 of them to push on.

Lack of a proper batting all-rounder didn't help either. The tail is far too long, which everybody but the selectors, coaches and captain can see.

The captain and coach can see it as well. But unless you know of a kallis, pollock or klusener hanging about their hands were tied.

They either pick a better bowler and try and restrict the opposition or go for bits and pieces options like morris and pretorius.

The problem is really a tradition of sticking with older players who are out of form for too long instead of giving young players an opportunity.

I was thinking about alternative all rounders that we could have taken instead of Morris or Pretorius.

In all honesty, Morris was out in the wilderness, and Pretorius never looked like he had enough experience.

Vern and Farhaan come to mind

Vern is accurate and solid with the bat.
Fudge is a quality bat (very underrated IMO) who can provide some variation with the ball.

It appears that Ottis's obsession with Raw pace vs Variation is the reason they were not counted in WC plans.

We've seen against modern batters that taking pace off the ball has yielded results in the middle overs. Case in point, Andile has been our best bowler after 2 matches.

Just something to think about.

Like?

I hear this all the time but then the person making the argument cant name a young player to replace an incumbent
